How would you answer this? Are interviewers looking for something informal like "I'm really good at playing the guitar" or something more academically oriented?

Thanks

Anything academic should pretty much already be in your file. They want something personal....save something really "juicy" and give them that. It's what I did. 😀

perfect, thanks 😉

Ew, I hate that question. I got it at one school but it was worded more like, "Tell us something that you think we should know about you that isn't in your application." I was like, well, I put absolutely everything in my application that I thought the adcoms should know about me. I actually answered somewhere along those lines bc I just couldn't think of anything else to say. It probably wasn't a good answer. What, was I supposed to tell them where I went on vacation last year to or something. I don't know.

Perhaps it would be wise to leave something insignificant off your application so you can answer that question. 🙂

"Before deciding on a career in medicine I worked for the British Secret Service (MI6) ..."

That's just me though.

They are looking for something to make you a real person, not an application, they want to know something about you and make sure you personally are a good fit for their school.

I trapped black bears in the pisca national forest. True story and didn't talk about it anywhere on my apps 😎.

I told them that during the summers I went hunting in alaska with my uncle for wolverines! and they asked me what type of gun I used and I told them a friggin 12 gauge.

What else would you use?

 I'll take a mental note of that for next time. Maybe talking about losing my first tooth in my application was too much. No seriously, I'm just very private around people I first meet and that's a very hard question for me especially since I got so personal in my PS. There really wasn't much else to tell them that didn't make me feel weird.

Well now you have to tell us what record you hold.

You honestly cannot think of anything interesting about yourself? Do you not have any hobbies? Interests (other than medicine?) Come on, I refuse to believe that. If not, then talk about the time your uncle's friend came over and handed you a ring that you had to take to volcanoe to destroy or else all mankind would be dead. If they haven't caught on by then, you're in the clear. 👍

haha that's exactly what they asked. i went to a minor league hockey game here in erie (the otters) and they had a promotion with a potato chip company. everyone got free chips and then we all ate them at once, becoming the most people eating chips at the same time. it happened two days before my interview so it was the first thing that came to mind. they were, shall we say, surprised about what it was 🙂

 That's pretty cool. I don't think I have anything too unique. I could say, I have two toddlers and I change roughly 50-60 poopy diapers a month. I would like to see the reaction to that one. :meanie:

I waited for this but it never came. I pondered doint one of two:

I have been struck by lightning, fallen 30' out of a helicopter, and flipped in a vehichle going 70 four times.

or

I still own the first stuffed animal I was ever given, I am a baloon artist, and I have been a professional cliff diver and actor.

But I never got to use it.🙁

I was shot at as a kid, and I have had stitches 15 times.

If this were to come up in a future interview, would this suffice?
