I've been waiting on one guy for like a month, granted he moved 4 weeks ago, but I've already asked him AGAIN 2 weeks ago, promised me he would do it, and still nothing. And the other one hasn't even opened the letter from pharmcas, as it's still "New" in my pharmcas. Any methods to politely ask the writers to move their ass that have worked for you?

try going to them in person. but if you are too far, try giving them a phone call.

Im having the same problem!!! everything is done except for my 2 lors being sent in! they havnt even been opened on pharmcas! still "new". I mean how long can it take to seriously do these things? I don't want to tell the people writing my lors to hurry up or be mean about it because after all, they are doing me a favor and (hopefully) saying nice things.... this sucks

I'm sorry to hear you haven't received your LOR. I think the best way to approach this situation is to show him or her what you want and when you want it done. It is best to give this person ample amount of time and set a reasonable deadline (a specific date).

Also, show the recommender that you care and that you are here to help. Ask if they have received the email from PharmCAS and if they are having any trouble filling out the forms electronically.

Lastly, do ask them how they are doing and perhaps, let them know where you are in the application process and show them how much you want to get accepted to pharmacy school.

hope that helps a little. 🙂

I had this problem with an evaluator, I told her in June, and i followed up with emails and office visits, but she still hadn't done it, and it was already september. So i cancelled her from pharmCAS and asked another person to do it. Thank God he did it ASAP and submitted that same night.

But, you can tell them "admissions is based on rolling admission and is very competitive and my application is COMPLETE and the only thing that is preventing me from turning it in is your letter." Try that out, if not, find another person for backup.

Goodluck!!!

This is what I did, and it worked pretty well. I wrote a letter for them. I wrote what I wanted them to say, and what I thought they honestly felt about me. I sent it as an attachment with my request, and told them that I wrote a sample letter for them to use. I said that they could use it if they wanted, or just use it as a guideline. Honestly, it was VERY painful to write myself a letter of recommendation. I can see why they take so long to do it. I mean it only took a few hours for each one, but it was not fun at all. I can see why they procrastinate. If I wasn't so motivated for myself I would have put it off until the last minute. Anyway, try seeing it from their view point. Why don't you write a letter for him to use. He/she may not end up using it at all, but this usually helps motivate and guide people. Anyway, this worked for me, so maybe it might help you ^_^

send them a "thank you" card even though they havent written the letter of re

my advice is going to talk to them and giving them a date you'd like it done by. having deadlines help them stay on track and not put it off. good luck

I had the same problem. I asked for my LORs in June, and all 4 didn't get completed until September. I think the best strategy is to set a deadline (one that works in your favor, of course), and to also inform them that many schools are on rolling admission and cannot consider you until you have all of your LORs. Good luck 🙂

If you delete them from the PharmCAS LoR system and then re-enter their information, it'll resend them the link to submit the LoR. I did that after waiting 3 weeks, and it got my LoR done the next day. The other person I just pestered every other day, since I saw them on a daily basis.

Had this same problem over the summer one of my professor is also a MD so I gave him the benefit of doubt. He had almost all summer until I just ended up printing the form and having him do it within a week. It was done. The thing about the electronic method is if the person doesnt check their email (alot of my LOR got it in their SPam box) then tough cookies.

Can we cancel LOR on PharmCas and re-enter the same person and same e-mail, so they get another email? Mine agreed to write a LOR, but shows they haven't received their email. I feel like sending a reminder (it's only been a week) or telling them to look in the spam folder would be rude or condescending and generally unwanted.

Yeah. Log in to PharmCAS and click on References on the bottom. Click on the [x] next to the author and reassign the author.
