I'm trying to put together some references for a couple of LOR writers I have lined up. They are people from industry and don't have much of an idea of what Med schools want to see...

Does anyone know of some references or examples?

Thanks!

My premed advisor has suggestions for what should be mentioned or addressed in a applicant when writing a LOR. Here are just a few of them:
1) General intellectual qualities such as curiousity, honesty, ability to reason critically, to solve problems and communicate
2) Personal qualities such as committment, compassion, empathy, and leadership
3) Did you enjoy teaching or working with the applicant?
4) Background, including steps the student has taken to test his/her goals; ability to make adjustments to demands of family, school, and society;
5) His/her choice of leisure activities
6) It would also be helpful if you would indicate whether or not you would go to this person for his/her professional services once his/her training is completed

Hope this was what you were looking for! Good luck!

I had the same question asked of me. While I don't think the exact format matters per se, I would emphasize for them to put on company letterhead if possible (not necessarily from when you worked there, but their current employment). This looks more official and not like a buddy just wrote it for you. And I agree with everything Cvs said - especially the 6th point. 🙂

Also, here is a website that has some examples: http://www.accepted.com/medical/
