Hi. I am admitted to Temple and Tufts. I like both schools with strong clinic programs. At the same time, it is hard to make the decision. Could any one give me your thought about these schools? What would you choose to go to if you have to make a decision?

Also, does anyone know the first year tuition of Temple? Thanks.

Sure, I can help you!

Go to USC 😉

I PM'd you.

You will get a biased opinion from everyone who tells you where to go. This is because those people most likely chose that school simply because they liked it more. It had more to offer THEM compared to their other choices.

I am one of those, and I will tell you this. You have ample time to think about each school's pros and cons. Write them down on a list, reflect on how much you fit in with each school during your interview. Take that same thought, and try it again a few days later to see if you feel the same.

Search this board for "temple" and "tufts". I will be one of the first people to tell you that Tufts is an excellent school. However, like any school, it has its shortcomings (all of which are on this board somewhere...it's been discussed numerous times). If you need more information, PM or email me.

My first year here has been an excellent one. I've been rejected, waitlisted, through two application cycles, and didn't have the best stats coming into dental school. I'm now sitting at the upper 1/3 or 1/4 of my class and am enjoying every day of it. That says something about the caliber of the faculty here, and how much they strive to teach the students. I also do my part and am much more focused than I was in undergrad.

I try to imagine myself at many of the schools I interviewed at and visited, and I truly have a hard time justifying going somewhere else.

Keep in mind, these are MY opinions. I am not like you, and I enjoy and look for different things in my schools. Good luck with your decision, and congratulations on being accepted to two very highly regarded schools.

Being as objective as possible, I would go to Tufts. Temple is a good school, but the environment was just not for me. I'm not just talking about the ghetto the school is located in, but some parts of the school resembled a dungeon type of atmosphere. That I did not really like.

In the end, you cant go wrong with either school. Flip a coin!

Tufts is widely considered a much better school overall

I have to disagree with you speter33. You can?t just say a particular school is considered a much better school without discussing specific aspects. Temple is a highly regarded school.

I interviewed at both Tufts and Temple last year. I have to admit I was drawn more to Tufts but I wouldn?t classify Tufts as a better school. Tufts had a nicer facility and it seemed like it would also be more fun. Ultimately I decided to go to Temple. The amount of money I would save on tuition and cost a living was a huge factor for me. Location and clinical experience (Tufts is also a good clinical school) were also important factors.

Dentaldream is correct. I do feel like I?m in a dungeon in certain part of the building here at Temple but it was something I could deal with weighing the pros and cons that were important to me.

All the dental schools are good schools. You just have to decide which one suits you best. DrPheta was exactly right when he said write down the pos and cons of each school and determine what is most important for you.

Congratulations on your acceptances!

that's true i forgot the money issue,
If money were the same I'd deff. say Tufts.
But the school is crazy expensive so you have to take that into consideration
