Hello All,

I have recently received the chance to interview for Temple's DPT program. Can anyone who has gone through their interview process share their interview experience, share any advice on how to prepare for the day, and elaborate on their "behavioral-based" interview format?

I was also wondering if any current students or alumni who are seeing this would be available to answer some more specific questions about their Temple DPT experience?

I interviewed at Temple in September, and I had a great experience! The day starts with a presentation about the details/logistics of the program, and all of the faculty members introduced themselves and talked about their research interests briefly. Then, we broke off into small group interviews, which for my group was about six or seven applicants, four current students, and two faculty members. I was nervous at first of course, but the current students helped me feel so much more at ease, and the faculty are all very friendly as well! Each applicant answered four or five questions (I can't remember specifically), and some questions were repeated. In my opinion, this was the most difficult part; You can't necessarily just repeat the answer the previous applicant gave if you are given a repeat question. Although I can't remember all of the questions asked, a few I can remember are: "Why do you think Temple is the right fit for you; What aspects of Temple's program do you like; Describe a positive/negative experience you have had in the past with a medical professional, and describe what you liked/disliked about how the professional acted during the experience." Then, current students gave us a short tour of the facilities and the rest of campus where we had the chance to ask the students any questions about student life and the program in general.

I don't think you need to do much to prepare, other than peruse the website for Temple's DPT program and think about what aspects of the program are a good fit for you; Be prepared to talk about these aspects during the interview. That's all I did to prepare, and I was accepted into the program which I'm so excited about! I still have two interviews coming up, but as of now my heart is set on Temple. Good luck!

When did you guys submit your application to Temple? I submitted and was verified on Sept 20 and haven't heard back yet.
I applied to Temple Sept 13th and heard back from them Sept 17th for an interview on Nov 9th.

My application was under review by Temple 9/14 and I was chosen to interview 9/17 for November 9th as well.

Congratulations on the interviews! if you guys don't mind me asking what were your stats? I recently applied to Temple and wasn't sure what kind of stats they were looking for.

Overall GPA: 3.49
Science GPA: 2.94
GRE: V146 Q149 W3.5
Observation Hours: about 2000 with 4 settings (3 outpatient 1 inpatient)
Athletic Training clinical hours: about 700 hours (3 sites)
Worked with the geriatric population for 4 years during undergrad

My GPA's are a little misleading because I am applying with an Associates and Bachelors from two different schools while I am currently working towards my Masters in Athletic Training. I've retaken a few pre reqs too. The GPA's I listed were with PTCAS's GPA calculators and were what was sent to the program.

Ugh. I'm starting to get nervous since I haven't heard back. :/

This is my second time applying to the program. My first time applying to the program the program did not get back to me right away like they did this time. I was honestly surprised how fast they got back to me. One thing that I will say is that I contacted Scott early-mid august and emailed him my unofficial application because my official application was locked out at the time with a problem that occurred with the early admission process. Maybe you can try contacting Scott? I have reached out to him for various things for my application the two terms I applied and he is extremely helpful.

I was exercise science for AS and BS and athletic training for MS. I had 4 letters two from PTs and 2 two from academic advisors. This is my second time applying so the added experience MSAT definitely helped me out.

Current Temple student here and I couldn’t be happier! DO NOT STRESS about the interview. Speak from your experiences (your experiences are what got you invited to an interview in the first place!). There are no difficult questions, we are just trying to get to know you! During the interview I never felt like I had to scramble for an answer.
The interview day was what really sold me on Temple. Professors and students were/are very engaging and optimistic (hopefully I can convey that to you as well if I help out with an interview day). You will have a good time, I promise. 🙂

Thank you for the advice and it is incredible the sense of family that I'm sensing from TU's program! Just trying to make sure I can get the most information coming in so I can present myself in the best possible way in front of this incredible program.

hey guys, reading over this forum and I was just curious if anyone knows if the later you applied would that mean the later you get an interview? I'm just curious, I got an email saying my application was under review back on Oct 5th. I submitted late because one of my letters of recommendation fell through and I had to get another. Should we assume if we haven't heard anything that chances are lower of getting in?

Hi, I applied to Temple at the beginning of August and interviewed early September. I have since been accepted.

Stats:
Cum GPA: 3.91
Pre-req GPA: 3.7
GRE: V- 154, Q- 153, AW- 4.0

Observation hours: 400ish in 3 different out patient settings, one inpatient, and one pediatric.

Hope this helps,
Best of luck!

I emailed to check on Oct 18 and they told me my application was still under review. Other than that, I haven't heard anything. So I am assuming yours is also. 🙂

Hello! I Just interviewed last week and I was just wondering what your timeline looked like as far as how long it took before you heard back after your interview!

Congratulations on the acceptance and thank you for your help!

Hi! I heard back exactly two weeks after my interview. I was in the first group of interviewees though, so I don’t know if this sped up the process since I applied earlier in the cycle.

I just got invited for an interview!! I need to email the program to confirm my attendance but there are two emails listed. Do you guys know which one of these I need to send my confirmation to?
1.) [email protected]
2.) [email protected]
Thanks!

Hello! I submitted my application to Temple on October 24th. My stats are honestly not anything crazy. If anything I was nervous I wouldn't get invited for interviews.
cGPA: 3.75
pGPA: 3.5
GRE: 152(V), 147(Q), and 4.0(W)
Those stats are pending this semester. Made dean's list every semester. I only have about 70 observations hours, but have worked 2-3 jobs throughout college. I also think my essay and school-specific questions have helped my chances at getting interviews.
Extracurriculars: Delta Phi Epsilon (sorority), Phi Eta Sigma (Honor Society), Alpha Lambda Delta (Honor Society), and National Society of Leadership and Success.
Hope this helps! Just keep checking your email and be patient 🙂

Do you know when the last interview date is? I submitted at the end of September and still haven't heard back 🙁 On Oct 18, they said my application was still under review.
I am not sure when the last interview date is. This is on their recommended timeline for their application:
"October:  As we continue to accept applications, we will continue to interview the outstanding applicants. Interviewed applicants will be informed of the admission decision by mail within four weeks of the interview date. This process will continue until our class is completed (52 students). Typically, this occurs in January but varies year to year. Applications received after our class is “full” will only be considered for the wait list.  Please email DPT Admissions Committee ([email protected]) if you have submitted all your application materials and have not heard from us."

52 students? Did they lower their class size? On PTCAS, it says 70.

My apologies, this is an old number from 2016. My friend sent this to me and I didn't realize it wasn't from this year. However, I think the general timeline is still the same.

Hey guys! Has anyone who interviewed on November 9th heard back yet?

Has anyone who has NOT received an interview (yet) still not heard back from Temple? On 11/15 they said I was still under review and should hear back in 4-6 weeks...

I was offered an interview and have been waiting almost two weeks for a response to finally reschedule. I’ve heard from other people that they can take awhile to respond.

I gave up my seat, so I hope this helps someone still waiting !

I do love Temple’s program, but I also gave up my seat. The decision came down to tuition for me. Good luck everyone!
