Hi so I received acceptances to my top 5 choices, including Temple. Temple is a closer school than most for me and would like to stay close to home, although there are mixed feelings about the school.

At the point I want to specialize. Would going to temple hinder my dream of going into a specialty other than oral surgery?

Also if anyone could answer these questions....

do you know what board pass rates are ?
are you enjoying your education/ happy with your choice of Temple?
are you having problems with getting payments from patients?

Thanks for all your help!

Hey pebbles,

The student who sat with us at my interview was going into peds. It's an individual thing that you have to work toward if you want to specialize. Good luck with your decision.

Any other temple students want to give their advice. I am considering temple too.

There's no school in the country that will hinder you from getting into any specialty. it's all on your shoulders.

As far as boards pass rates, I'm not from Temple but I'm guessing it's somewhere around 100%, just like every other school in the nation.

Toofshucker must be busy studying for finals! 🙂

True, true. 😀 We just finished path today and have a break until Tues, so I am back.

Temple is great, in my opinion. As for specializing, it is completely up to you. There are people in my class that are pulling straight A's, and you can go and ask them anything about anything, and they can tell you. And there are people in my class that are barely scratching by, and 1.5 years into it, couldn't tell you the difference between 1, 2, and 3 (OK slight exaggeration, but you get my point).

Temple has Oral Surgery, Ortho, Endo, Perio and other specialty programs and they place students in their own and other programs around the country. Again, it is up to you, no matter where you go, if you will be qualified to specialize or not. The great thing about Temple, is that if you decide to specialize, the teachers will do everything they can (for the most part) to help you learn the material as well as you need to accomplish your goals of good grades, and good board scores. But, if you decide to not specialize, Temple will have you better prepared to be a general dentist than 95% of the other schools out there.

In my view, Temple is as close as you will get to a school that provides everything you need.
