Hey,

Just wondering if anyone is planning on buying a townhome/condo that is going to Temple....if so, where should I be looking???

Also, anyone know what we have to do to establish residency????

Thanks

u can ask for a booklet that has the req. for residency. I looked into that and all i got a little frustrated because Pennsylvania is probably the most anal about residency than any other state that i know.
i wanted to buy a condo too, but i found out that just by having a home there is not an automatic residency. U need to have lived in Penn for a year before school. During school year wont count towards the residency req. or the other way is to have a wife that works in philly with a home. Also somehow being a homeower with some great proof that you are going to live in Penn after school may do it.
Therefore, i just ended up putting a deposit in Roxborough(woodmere)

My wife and I moved from Massachussetts and bought a house at about the same time I was starting school. I wasn’t even going to apply for residency for the first semester but someone told me I should try. I applied 2-3 weeks into the semester and surprisingly was granted residency. My wife works in Jersey so I don’t think you have to live here a year before applying nor does your spouse have to work in Pennsylvania unless the rules have changed. Although my wife’s family does live nearby in Jersey so maybe that helped me gain residency.
On the other hand, my buddy bought a condo at the end of his freshman year and was not granted residency. I asked him what happened. He said they don’t consider buying a condo the same as a house. Maybe a condo doesn’t seem as permanent.
Anyway, that’s my experience.
