Of course I'd love to stay at the DoubleTree for free, but the only caveat is I have to SHARE the room with another interviewee...do you think it's ok to do that? Anybody actually done that?

Uh, no thanks. I wouldn't but that's just me. Good luck with that one....

They told me I'd have to share, but when I got there, the room was all to myself... I mean, it's a pretty nice hotel. Who cares you might have to share one night. It's better than what most schools give you...

If its any help - there will be 2 beds.

All kidding aside - I was told I'd have a roommate, but they didn't show. The room and hotel are quite nice. If your privacy is worth more than $100 to you then don't take the school up on it. I stayed 2 nights and had an amazing meal at a tappas restaurant a few blocks from the hotel after my interview. Drank some amazing locally brewed beer and then got lost trying to find the hotel. In hindsight it was an awesome trip.

actually, it's one single bed for 2-3 interviewees. temple figures if you can survive a night in close contact with fellow students, you can probably stand touching nasty feet errday.

I didn't interview at Temple, but personally I wouldn't have done it. My reasoning behind this is that I would want to be able to relax before and after the interview without having to worry about sharing a room with anyone else.

But like I said, that is just me. I know a decent number of people in my class who did interview at Temple and did the rooming thing and everything went fine. It just depends on your personality.

I stayed at the doubletree and had no issues with it. My roommate actually did show, but you both have your own bed. It's really no different from freshmen year where you typically share a room with someone. Like Max said, it's just one night and you save a nice amount of money that you can use for dinners, drinks, etc.

I am interviewing there monday. I booked my own room at first as I am planning on catching up on some work stuff that night and want the room quiet. I also wanted to take advantage of this one point bonus offer by staying at this holiday inn (airline miles and point programs are an obsession of mine). In retrospect I should have just taken them up on the free room and if I did end up getting a room mate I would have then booked elsewhere.

it's a good thing you're catching them on Monday b/c theyre off starting on the 21st for winter break.

much ado about nothing...

Yes Temple offers you a nice room, in a nice hotel that you have to share with a class mate. The class mate may or may not show. Honestly, its not a big deal. Lets put this in perspective.

1) I assume you went to college and had a room mate at some point? If you lived through that I think you can handle 24 hours with your mysterious room mate.

2) This potential room mate is an adult interested in podiatry. PODIATRY, a profession where you have to like helping other people. Instead of thinking of this situation as a potential problem, think of it as a great opportunity!!!!! That other student will probably have a lot of questions about podiatry same as you.

Talk to them, have some fun, get some sleep and enjoy interview day.

NOW THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE THINKING ABOUT...

1) Parking garage is actually tucked behind the hotel. Entrance is on Broad St.

2) Avoid eating the food at the hotel. Its horribly over priced and not very tasty. Buffet is actually the cheapest option for breakfast b/c they charge you for every glass of OJ you drink if you don't get the buffet option. The staff is nice (I gave my waiter a big tip 🙂 ). The hotel is in a very nice section of Phily and its location is within walking distance from the podiatry school.

3) Temple Podiatry is NOT located where Temple undergrad is. Hotel staff has NO CLUE where the podiatry school is. Trust me I found out ><. If your driving for more than 5-6 minutes your doing it wrong.

I ended up with an awkward roomie situation. That guy... strange.

But it saved me a $100 and i would do it again. I know I was poor when I was flying all over the country interviewing all within a month and a half time span. So the free (nice) room was great.

I got ticketed with the orange juice. Ouch!

It's really not a big deal. I interviewed there last year, and had a roommate. I liked having someone to go sight seeing with since it was my first time in Philly. You can't go there without getting a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, but I'm sure that if you need to do work they will be understanding.
