temple interview questions....

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

So do they have your file infront of them when you are being interviewed? Or is it just general questions that they ask the entire group?

The interview is closed-file, so they don't ask any specific questions about your grades/experiences. This can be a pro and a con.

Thanx. I don't understand how this helps the admissions process though. Will they be able to make comments about your interview to the admissions committee?

Some of the interviewers are actual members of the admin committee. It's closed file, so the questions they ask are general ones about pharmacy itself....and less on you in particular. It's good because they're not judgemental beforehand, but bad because you can't explain any "bumps" in your record. But don't worry about the interview, it was so easy. I had my interview in the 3rd week of March and got my acceptance letter a week later. There weren't any hard questions and the ones that seem hard (ie: how many registered drugs), they don't expect you to know. Just relax and enjoy your stay there, everyone was super friendly =)

I think that they might write impressions/comments after the interview based on what they interviewer remembers most about you and your answeres.

i actually called them with this questions....the interviewer makes notes about your interview. They right down what you say....soemthing that catches their attention and overall what they thought about you from your interview.
THat is what they submit to the committee and that is what the committee uses with your file to make their decision!!!!!!

I've come across on the some Temple interview questions on the feedback section. I've been searching google but no luck... Can you guys help??

How many registered drugs are there in the market?
How many board certified Pharmacists do we have in the US?
How many perscriptions are written each day?

Thanks!

Do they ask you those questions in an interview? I didn't realize that you were supposed to know the answers to those before pharmacy school. That's interesting.

Do you remember when exactly you interviewed? I went on the 21st and still haven't received anything.

Thanx...i was starting to get nervous...I read the interview feedback comments, and 2 people said that their interviewer asked them technical questions like stuff about the krebs cycle. But I think that those are older comments...before they started to require the PCAT.

Thanx for everything guys!! I'm sure that I will be in much better shape at the interview than the non SDNers. I'll let you know how it went as soon as I come home Friday!!
Wish me luck! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I went on the 15th or 16th, I think (sorry, I don't have my appt book w/ me, so I don't remember). But I remember that I received my letter on the 23rd. Since you went later, give them some time. I think they send out letters in batches on specific days.

Congrats to all that got into Temple...it is a fine school and I have loved every bit of my 4 years...to the student that is coming from Alabama you will prob. hate philly...(I'm from florida and it is a total culture shock)...For those that have concerns about attending Temple vs. USP: our curriculum is set up much better...ask students there how many P5 (they go P1-6) students flunk out (the # is very high)...and then proceed to ask clinical questions...won't be long before they are stumped...the program is very fair for students compared to what other schools demand. For the poor students who had Dr. Paul as an interviewer...I'm sorry :scared: ...he really doesn't represent the school...He probably was the only one not doing research, teaching, or working on a grant...For those yet to interview or interviewing next year ALWAYS focus on advancing pharmacy and be VERY interested in clinical pharmacy...Temple want to produce clinical pharms (even though retail is taking over the world with vol.) Good Luck to all for the next 4 years... :luck:

Hey thank you so much for your post....i makes me confident in attending temple next year. I was lucky i didn't get Dr. Paul....i hate prof. nagar....she seems very nice. I also had Dr. cannon-bobb as an interviewer as well.....i have to say she is just great. I work at the pharmacy school....so i had a chance to go talk to her couple times after my acceptance.
I am very glad they lean towards clincal pharm....that is what i am truly very interested in. Do you know if lots of students there try to get into a summer internships programs...i know there are a lot of pharm companies near by. GSK, J&j is there and many others. That is what i was hoping to do....just wondering if you or any other students tries to do that.
Well thanx again for your post....it was very pleasant and comforting. Can't wait to start next year........YAY!!!!!!

Hey yoyoyo, do u mind me asking what your pcats and gpas are? thanks!

Congratulations to all who will be attending TUSP next fall!

To all who got acceptance letters, the package asks for a picture of you along with the other info and deposit. I was wondering if anyone knows specifically what kind of picture they require? Headshot, 3/4 shot, driver's licence picture, etc. I would call tham again, but I don't want to sound like a nerd. Im pretty sure they dont want a nude shot....but they really did not specify in their letter.

Thanx

I just sent in this really nice candid headshot that I took one night when I was out. I had on a button down shirt and a huge smile! 🙂 I just went down to Walgreens and had them print out wallet size prints from my memory card.

Has anybody else who interviewed the week of March 26 or after heard anything yet? I interviewed on March 31 and still nothing-the wait is killing me.

For anyone who was granted provisional acceptance, they say that you must maintain a competitive grade point average. Does anyone know what that means? Such vague terminology 😕 . Does that mean if i get a B+ in a prerequisite that I'm out? (not that that would happen but you never know)

So I haven't had time to post anything lately, but I am on the "alternate list" at Temple. I just sent in the deposit, and hopefully I will get accepted. In the letter they sent, it said that usually 12-15 students that are on the waiting list actually get in. That number seems kind of low to me...I'm hoping that I have a chance.

The picture they are requesting is basically a passport photo. You can get them done just about anywhere. The photo is for a book that each professor will get--that way they can put a name with a face--and trust me, they will get to know everyone's name. You get your id photo during orientation.

I was wait listed as well but I'm going to call them and tell them to take me off the list. Good luck. I know that last year some students were accepted in June and July!
