I know there is a thread around here about this but i cant seem to find it, so sorry if this is redundant, please don't get on my case 😀. For those of you who have already interviews at temple could you please explain your experience. i know its different than your typical interview. thanks upfront 😍😍😍

I actually loved my temple interview. I am from Idaho (haha so it was a long ways), but it definitely made it as one of my best trips. The school is in a pretty scary part of town. I was only there during the day, but I never felt threatened by anyone or anything while I walked around.

The interview day started with the group of us meeting upstairs. We just sat and talked for awhile, getting to know everyone. We then watched a powerpoint about the school and got information to help us with housing and everything. The admissions people were VERY friendly and along with the interviewing group, it just felt like I was hanging out with good friends all day. We had lunch with some dental students and were able to ask them any questions we had.

I know that some people have a problem with the interview being a 3-5 min video, but really I felt like I got to say everything I needed in about 3. They have your application, they have your stats, and they spend the whole day getting to know what type of person you are. It is a very enjoyable interview. If you have an invite there, you should look forward to it and enjoy the experience.

I interviewed last cycle and was actually very impressed with Temple. This could have partly been because I had low expectations walking in but Brian (Head of Adcoms) does a really good job selling the school. Sometimes too well, where he comes off as a used car salesman. He is very upfront with you. He runs the whole day and people either like or dislike him. He's definitely a character. My actual interview was with a professor there and it was super laid back, we spent more time talking about whatever and then he would ask his basic questions and quickly mark down random things, you could tell he just wanted to get those out of the way so we could just talk about whatever. A major plus of that school is I believe they truly make great clinicians.

There are some major cons to the school. One is obviously location. I personally kind of liked the city of Philadelphia as a whole, its a city with a lot of character but Temple is in a pretty grimy section of the city. FYI, don't exit the back of the school to walk to your car. That is where you will feel the most uncomfortable. Also, a lot of their equipment is pretty outdated but when I interviewed there they were making big upgrades in that department. I think in a couple of years, that school will be a lot better as far as technology and equipment, which is right when you will be entering clinic. Good Luck!

I enter out the back every day... the school is safe, don't let others fool you. the only security issue that you need to be concerned about is yourself. IE don't park your car 4 blocks away and leave at night.. dont walk around talking on your iPhone flashing benjamins.. people give Temple a bad rap, but I've never felt unsafe.

The equipment is already being updated so interviewers should consider that they will be using new equipment throughout their whole curriculum. Our renovations are cruising along and are looking very sharp.
