Can anyone help me out here? I submitted my ERAS app to Temple (among others) and realized after I sent it that it lists on ERAS as a Categorical program... However... Both Freida AND the Temple PM&R's website describe it as Advanced... I'm an osteopathic student, so I will be doing an osteopathic internship (therefore, applying only to Advanced programs). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Unless something changed from last year's Match to the new one, it should be an advanced program.

Well, I emailed the residency coordinator to ask the question and she emailed me back very quickly. She told me that "yes it is categorical meaning it starts during PGY2, so applying now as an MS4 is the time to do it"... I'm lost... I THOUGHT I knew the difference b/t categorical and advanced, but who knows now. Well glad to hear I'm not losin it OMMFellow. Thanks for your input.

Categorical = spend all 4 years, including internship, at the same place

Advanced = internship year applied separately, PGY-2 (hence advanced) residency spot applied separately

Not to confuse, but I say "separately" for advanced, as opposed to "elsewhere", because you could apply to the same medical center for both your prelim year as well as your Advanced residency position. Example: Prelim and Residency both at Michigan but Michigan ONLY has ADVANCED PM&R positions.

Sound good? The hardest part has yet to come.....waiting....waiting....waiting for interviews.
