Temple University requirements

I read in the Official Guide to Dental Schools that Temple University requires a minimum GPA of 3.0, yet their avg. GPA for the last class was 3.2. What do you guys make of this? Is it more of a recommendation than a requirement... or will they totally ignore your application if its less than a 3.0? And if its required... why is their avg GPA so low then?

I don;t think they are strict on this. A 3.2 means they accepted people with a 4.0 and a 2.5 and the 3.2 is an average of 125 people entering the class. I doubt everyone had a 3.0 or above. This may be the new rule they are implementing though because I know that Temple is not interviewing as many people this year as last year. They may make some cut offs.

If it's listed on their website it is probably a strict requirement. And no, an average 3.2 at a school is probably more likely a lot of 3.0's-3.5's.....not 2.5's-4.0's.

However, OP, call the school and find out.

Hmm, I found someone at predents.com with a 2.5

Averages cover a much broader range than just 3.1 to 3.5

I have a buddy going there who does have a 4.0

Not to be obvious or anything.

nothin lately, I thought we were suppose to get financial aid stuff...

As for the physical: its done, but just getting all the vaccination stuff taken care of now before I send off the form.

I called the school today actually and talked the recruitment guy... Basically me and my group of friends harassed him since some of my friends are in similar predicaments as you guys and essentially he told me that its best to have at least a 3.5 to be "solid".

yeah i got to get that physical crap done.. i already had the shots from when I went to PCOM for a year.. so i just got to get it filled out... more or less a copy, paste procedure from my health form from PCOM...

I already had my physical done earlier this year and all my shots done last year. I dropped off the forms so my doctor can get it filled out, they're just taking forever to do it.
