Hey guys!

I recently got accepted to Temple, Scholl, and DMU! I want some opinions whether I should put my deposit down for Temple, Scholl, or DMU? I currently live in Chicago and love it here so close to home, but the clinical experience and the large patient pool at Temple is something that I see very beneficial to me as a student. I need some help. What do you guys think?

Thank you

CPME requires all schools to post their board pass rates, graduation rates and residency placement rates. If you can't pass boards or get a residency, a large patient pool at Temple doesn't mean much. I would suggest looking more closely at each school's website for those stats.

I was going to put in a plug for DMU, but I sort of get the feeling that you are fighting to choose between Scholl and Temple.

If you really love Chicago already I don't think this a complicated choice.

Podiatry school is long. Having an environment you can stand for the first 2 years is a must - that's when you are just grinding books and you want the school to get out of your way and let you learn however is best for you. I interviewed at Temple and I knew the city wasn't the right fit for me - I'm more comfortable in suburban than urban. I say this not to knock Temple - I'm saying you need to know what fits you because the first two years are when I think the majority of people are lost. They are the book heavy years. Temple probably does have a heavier clinic than Scholl (and no question - its heavier than DMU). Does this matter? Its almost certainly helpful at the beginning of 4th year when you go out to clerkships and the residents see that you can handle a room by yourself and effectively move through patients. Within a few months? Depending on the clerkships people are doing it may matter less. There are some clinic heavy programs out there. You'll have to balance all these things. I have nothing negative to say about the Temple people I've met. Their residents are all over the place geographically and they always seemed sharp/confident. I haven't met as many Scholl graduates - the ones I met were top notch.
