Jost got a letter from Temple wanting app. fee. The letter says that b/c of the high volume of app's I might not hear from them until April. Did anyone interview with Temple last year and know anything about when interviews start? Thanks.

I interviewed at Temple two years ago in August.

lol its funny because when I tell people I want to be a dentist they say, "what, WHY? do you want to hurt people?" etc yet there is a "high volume of app's". WHY are so many people applying!!!

I just got their interview package in the mail. I kind of thought it was an elaborate rejection letter since their last correspondence said I might not hear anything until April.

I just noticed on the interview agenda, between the housing and financial aid lecture, is a talk on security. Sweet. I'll be sure to ask if dental students can get a concealed weapons permit for travelling to/from school. And are kevlar vests included with tuition?

Its not that bad of a neighborhood.
They just tell you not to stray too far away from campus and be careful at night. Its more or less common sense, than anything else.
No kevlar vest are not included in the tuition, you dont need them.


About ~125 letters were sent out in this first batch of interviews.
Temple is a great place.

Cool. I'd still attend regardless, even if it was located in surroundings like that Escape From New York movie.
Any advice on the group interview format?

I mailed my Temple check on 8/25 and it still has not been deducted from my checking account. That was the last thing they were waiting for (have my AADSAS, LOR, DATs). Should I call?

I sent my check in about a month ago and they just barely cashed it. I wouldn't worry about it yet. They are probably overwhelmed right now.

Honestly, just be yourself and have fun. You will do just fine. They like you, they want to meet you. Let them know who YOU are, and everything else will follow. If anything the group interview is a lot more chill, cause you can step back, catch your breath, and go at it again if you need to. Just have fun, and I have to say that this school is awesome. I love it.

Temple is in Penn. If you live in the western states like Cali, Oregon, Washington etc its gonna take an extra few days for the mail to get there.

So they told me that they're only scheduling for October right now.. They let me choose the 17th.

I ended up calling another day and a lady picked up that time. She told me that I could choose any date in october. I think the guy who answered the phone when I called the first time probably misintrepreted the letter. He probably thought that the interview had to be within 2 weeks from sept 24th or something.

The questions are broad- I don't think they're allowed to say something about your specific academic record in a group setting for other applicants to hear. There were about 4 or 5 questions- why dentistry, talk about your community service, talk about your leadership expericence- that sort of thing. We didn't have to do an essay, but I would have loved to do one!

hmm still wondering if I should go ahead and send the stuff or wait. I feel like I should wait so that they acknowledge that at least there's a folder with my name on it for my check to go in.

There were about 4 or 5 questions- why dentistry, talk about your community service, talk about your leadership expericence- that sort of thing. We didn't have to do an essay, but I would have loved to do one!

Group interview as in multiple adcoms asking one predent admissions questions, one adcom asking multiple predents admissions questions, or multiple adcoms asking multiple predents admissions questions?

I saw one group come through the school yesterday. they seemed pretty cool. I just have to say the Class of 2012 will have some big shoes to fill. Good Luck, dont stress, and learn what the school has to offer.
