Tennessee Practice?

My wife and I are considering the move to TN, eastern TN to be specific. What is the malpractice situtation and salarys (sp?) like in this state? I have received mixed information, just wondering if anyone else has better news...Thanks!

What part of eastern TN?
Malpractice isn't as bad as some states, but we are still considered bad compared to some other, neighboring states. The TMA is still actively fighting it, and the speaker of the house is terribly against physicians.
Salaries aren't too bad. Not as much academia here, but you can find it if you try.

As you can see from my WV thread I'm trying to stay in the mountains or at least areas around East Tennessee, North Carolina (asheville, Greenville etc), West Virginia, and possibly South Carolina.

Tough to find info about these cities and groups as most are not near a major academic center.

Salaries are very good especially considering the low cost of living. Definitely a nice place to live and have a family if you so choose.

You have the opportunity to work in anything from a tiny Emergency Room to a large Emergency Department in a Level 1 Trauma Center. You of course will make accordingly to how hard you work.

As previously posted, not a lot of academia there, but still some opportunities with other service residents rotating through some of the larger hospitals.

Malpractice for EM is actually pretty good considering. It's a minor part of your expenses (especially just getting started).

All in all a good place for EPs. Feel free to PM me for more specifics or information.
