Do we have to tell schools of non pharmacy related experience? I was "let go" from a job and I think it will hurt my chances if Pharm schools find out. I read the pharmcas instructions and the the only thing close that it asks is on page 16 it asks
Institutional Action*
Were you ever the recipient of any action (e.g. dismissal, disqualification, suspension,
probation etc.) by any college or university for unacceptable academic performance or
conduct violations?

The answer to this question is a no but I cant say the same about an employer. Do pharmacy schools contact former employers even? Thanks

honestly, you put as much (with limits) or as little information as you want on pharmcas. obviously if you falsify important information you will pay the price later. however in your case, not mentioning an insignificant job is going to hurt no one. and just so you feel less guilty, you should know that you wouldn't be the only one doing this. for example, for both the ec's and jobs sections i believe pharmcas limits you to like 5 or 6 entries for each, meaning that many applicants have had to pick and choose what jobs/clubs were worth mentioning (aka omitting other things they've done). BUT if it makes any difference I don't think pharmacy schools contact any of your previous employers. they just have you list everything to see what type of stuff you've been up to. i could be wrong on that though.

oh yeah and that institutional action thing is not even remotely related to your situation so DON'T fill that portion out.

Thanks doc really appreciate it.

if you did something unethical and got let go, I would say you should put it. If you didn't then I wouldn't. I was let go from a job last year and I didn't do anything wrong so I didn't put it on my application. I'm pretty sure that they called the company during the background check but I have no worries about what they would say about me.
