Alright, they're not really terrible, but their admissions office is! God they're awful! I sent in my secondary about a month and a half ago, and didn't get any completion e-mails. The 85 dollars I charged on my credit card for the secondary showed up on my bill, so I know they received the secondary. I called the office a week ago, and they arrogantly insisted that I not call anymore, that they would e-mail me when my application was complete. So today I get an e-mail titled "Second Notification: NYU secondary application," meaning they lost my secondary. I knew those worthless, evil bastards in the admissions office screwed up my application, but when I tried to tell them, they would hear none of it. So what should I do now? E-mail the dean? Sue them for stealing my money? Anyone else have this happen to them, and did you get it straightened out?

you could start by showing them proof of payment, either your credit card bill or a receipt from your bank.

I got the same 2nd notice email. I have no spam filter, so I know it was not deleted on accident. It is all a conspiracy, respect! 👍

I didn't receive a completion email either, so I emailed their admissions department asking if (and when) my application was complete. I have not received a response yet, but the application fee has been billed to my credit card. I had a similar issue with Cornell, but luckily, that has been resolved, I received a completion email this morning (and it was dated for 8/24?!).

I actually got my completion email from NYU on 8.11.04 about 2 weeks after my recs were sent out. I haven't been this lucky with all schools though (Temple gave me a headache!)...so just hang in there!

i had that completion status for awhile and i just received an invitation to interview there yesterday so hang in there!

I submitted my secondary on 8/15 and got a completion email on 8/25. Here's the weird thing - I know at least one of my letters wasn't even mailed until 8/27, and I'm guessing another one was probably mailed later. Weird. 😕

Mind sharing stats 🙂

no worries, this happened to me, too. but i received a follow-up email the same day correcting the mistake. if you applied to a dual degree program, that may have caused the mixup. that's what happened to me, and actually they just changed the word count on one of their dual degree apps and are now demanding that we rewrite the essays we submitted! hang in the there. if you have your essays on file, maybe you can email them to the committee so you dont have to repay the fee.

I used a check for all my secondaries. Credit card payments for applications are asking for trouble.
