Terrible score on MCAT (first try)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think they would be impressed to see your improvements.

Don't incorporate that into your PS unless it's somehow related to your decision to become a physician. The point of a PS is to answer the "why medicine" question, not attempt to explain why you did poorly on the MCAT. If you're able to improve your score, that will do enough for you.

I'm assuming you'll be applying URM... if so, that will certainly help. I think you'll be fine though.

If you get over a 30, people will probably ask you on the interview trail about the discrepancy, but it sounds like you have a good reason.

If I were you, I would apply to more schools though if you can afford it. You don't want to have to reapply because of bad luck. I would try to find another 5 to 10 schools that are a good match for you in terms of stats to apply to.
