Imagine a compound at a zoo filled with bonobos and you will have an accurate mental depiction of the environment of my home. This is the primary reason as to why I chose to attend a university halfway across the nation. I just have no idea how I can thrive academically once I go back... My graduation being a fin de siecle of sorts and returning will inevitably result in pessimism and ennui, due to the demoralizing nature of my family. Has anyone succeeded in a similar situation?

You do know what bonobos do when you put them together, right?

I was in a somewhat similar (but probably somewhat more tolerable) situation. Occupy a room where you can close the door, put in earplugs, and then put big headphones over your ears and earplugs and use a smartphone app that lets you customize your own white noise. You won't be able to hear a thing outside your room.

School library? Local library? Cafe?

There's plenty of places to go to study.

Or head to the nearest Starbucks.

Well... your previous plan of going to a Chinese rice paddy seem to solve this problem, no?

My girlfriend is currently attempting to dissuade me from going to the rice fields and I'm having second thoughts
