Hello,

I am having trouble with NBME tests and can't seem to crack a passing score. I have a 59% in UWorld and have never passed a single NBME. I just did form 16 and form 12 within a few days of eachother and have gotten 175 on both of them. I have been studying for months, been through Kaplan Q bank, FA RX, and now UWorld with just over 700 questions left. The problem is not my knowledge but I tend to doubt myself when it comes to choosing an answer. When I review each NBME after I know almost every question that I missed and do not know why during the test that I change my answer. I believe it has to do with self doubt and not believing in my knowledge. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I am also tried taking propranolol over the past few days to calm my nerves and anxiety. It was to no relief. Please give me a few tips or ideas to better my scores over the coming weeks and help with my test taking abilities.

So,

I scored a 440/215 on NBME 12, 4 days ago. I just took NBME 15 and got the same exact score. My test is scheduled in 3 days... My Current UWorld average is 63% with 300 questions left. What should I do? Delaying the test is possible, but difficult with my university at the moment.

Any Suggestions? I'm not looking to destroy the test. Just get a decent score.

Um...........yeah.......see your other thread. I think you need to get your story straight first bro.

Usually people pretend that their situation is actually their friend's as to not bring judgment upon themselves but this is the first time I've seen someone write about someone else's issue as if it were their own problem

My wife didn't feel like making an account, I had mine open and wrote what she had to say. Pretty simple. Being a good husband perhaps?

Not much you can do for true test anxiety except go to the center and try and get comfortable. 59% is not knowledge master level. You should be shooting for a 70%.......get near 80% and I will give you that.

First, I think you need to love over FA more. Then, look and how you are taking the test. For example, I found that I tend to "freak" out a bit when I do not know the answer right away. I was picking an answer too fast because of the time pressure, which I really do not have. I am fast based on my time with 10+ min all day. So, I started crossing out answers that I know are not it and it made me slow down some and think. I started to notice I did not have to know the answer cold but could reason my way through. I have been hovering at 80% over the last several blocks on UW. Around a 10% jump.

Never dreamed I would get that high on any section. The key is knowing the material well and knowing how to take the test.

Also, you can try breathing exercises to calm yourself. I would try and stay away for pills. Beta blockers can make you feel sluggish and benzos doped up. It is more a mind game. Do not think you can. Know you can. Believe in one's self is highly underrated.

Well first off it seems like you need to stick with your guy instinct. Pick an answer and just don't change it like you've been doing in the past. Just don't change it and hit next. Secondly for test anxiety when you're nervous just tell yourself it's an experimental question and doesn't count lol. Take deep breaths and kick out the fact that you're taking a step 1 exam, pretend like it's just another school exam.

i am also having test anxiety.I use dideral (propranolol ) especially before oral exams.
