Hi,

I just called my test center at 1 Penn Plaza and had an extremely rude man tell me that I won't be able to visit the center due to their policies. I was just wondering if this is the case for most test centers or just this extra strict one.

I am very disappointed because I was told by nearly EVERYONE, including friends who took it and Kaplan and various other guide books that I should go and check out the test center before my exam. I am taking it on Tuesday and I still plan to go and visit today.

If anyone has already taken the exam there or knows a little, please enlighten me! Thanks!

I wouldn't bother if you know exactly where it is and give yourself plenty of time to arrive there. It's exactly as everyone has described: u arrive to a cubicle, a computer, 2 laminate sheets with 2 dry erase markers.

If you're the type of person that freaks out under pressure, maybe it will help. It helps if you take practice tests is different locations.

Ps: make sure your 2 forms of ID are valid. Apparently my drivers license had just expired and they gave me 30 min to be back with another gov issue form. Lucky I had my passport in my apt 12 min away.

Thanks,

I just wanted to go and maybe ask if their calculators are laggy, and wanted to gauge the temperature of the room and stuff. I am fine with not going inside, but I find it misleading that it wasn't until now that I was told of this policy. Every since person I know who's even slightly knowledgable about the test has recommended that I visit beforehand. Anyways, I'll just wing it then. 😀

plan on the calculator being laggy. It has + - * \ sqr root, 1/x, % keys. I think it's laggy on purpose, pay attention to make sure the calculator is doing what you ask it to do because it doesn't follow order of operations like sci calculators do.

And dress in light layers. I felt comfortable in a long sleeve shirt, but got hot as I got a little behind in the RC so I took it off and put it on the floor. The prometric person said I couldn't have any "loose clothing" so she took my shirt from off the floor and hung it on a hanger in the lobby.

I was able to visit my test center before I took my test, but they were also pretty rude about it. I called and asked over the phone and the guy said it was fine, but when I got there they were pretty reluctant to show me anything (markers, dry erase board, etc). You should be able to go check it out though.

My calculator was not as laggy as everyone made it seem, although it did have a slight lag at times. And my test place was actually pretty chilly, so yeah be prepared for any type of temp.

I am taking the DATs there at penn plaza near MSG on Monday! I shall tell you how it is. same thing happened to me too, I went there yesterday and they said they don't let anyone in unless you are there to take the test, so yeah it was a waste of time.

Thanks for all the responses. I have planned to wear 2 layers of clothing that I have no care for. This way, if I get a runny nose I can just wipe without wasting time. yuck I know.

So I went there and because of the fact that the building is at the heart of NYC, security is as tight as .... well, it's super strict and turns out they will only let you up 30minutes before your scheduled exam.

Gl on monday!

While you're at it, wear a diaper. -_- Reading that one guys breakdown on urinating on himself was pretty hilarious. Don't let it happen to you!
