i see tons of "how do u prepare" or "what books do you use" type discussions here but not many real step1 test day strategies..? if there are good discussions already, plz let me know.. but otherwise, what are your thoughts on this? skip the tutorial, take 5 min breaks after each section, 45 min lunch break (with a 10 min nap?? lol) i'm doing my prometric practice run in 2 wks and hopefully i'll get a good feel for the real thing.

also, a bunch of the usmle step 1 experiences (in the thread of the same name) has advice on how students went thru the day. it helped me when deciding my own strategy...i would also suggest the practice test at prometric, then bringing water and gatorade (i wanted both depending on what i felt like drinking) and some high energy foods (for me, it was all about the quaker oatmeal chewy chocolate chip granola bars), and staying as loose as possible. i would also suggest frequent bathroom breaks between sections to stay fresh (wash your face etc). i would also suggest bringing some pain reliever (like tylenol) because you will have a headache at some point.

thx guys.. i'm sure i'll get this info at prometric, but what items are allowed in the exam room? can i bring in a piece of paper & pen? watch? timer? water?
