What is "Biology 5A" exactly?

Sorry, it's one of the intro courses in biology. We have Biology 5A, 5B, and 5C. Those are the 3 bio classes we have to take (similar to Bio1 and bio2 in the semester system I believe).

Most medical schools require a solid C or higher in all of the prerequisites; however, if you have more advanced level classes, it is completely possible to substitute upper level courses for the introductory course at most schools.

Edited: And if you are concerned, I don't think adcoms would care if you took the course again at a community college in this specific instance, especially if you have upper level work at your four year university.

can you reword what you mean? I don't think you can simply substitute a course for an introductory course just like that - all of your science courses are going to count towards the science GPA and the C-, in this scenario, will be too. afaik it's also a C- requirement instead of the C as you stated.

We are not talking about his GPA. Of course the C- will count in his AMCAS GPA, but for purposes of meeting the requirements of medical schools, most will allow you to substitute higher level courses for introductory courses.
