So, I got a reminder for my testing day, and it says the time of duration is 5:30 hours? I know that the DAT is only like 4:15 hours, so what's the extra hour and 15 min? Is it like an hour of debriefing or something before the test? I do hope so, because I don't think I'll be fully awake at 9am 😴

i think it includes you going through the instructions as to what buttons to press and **** (i skipped that haha so i took only 4 hrs) it also includes your break. and there's a questionaire at the very end...... asking about testing conditions etc.

I don't know why it would list such a long time. The instructions at the beginning take like 5 minutes if you actually do them and the questionnaire at the end is even shorter. It may take some time between actually arriving for the test and sitting down at the computer, but that's about it.

So we can take as long as we want(like ten twenty minutes) on the instructions? Do you guys recommend taking any energy drinks prior if we're not feeling fully awake?

I know how u feel.....i wouldnt do energy drinks otherwise u will need to pee every 10 min lol. And all that sugar is sure to give u a low. I usually take an apple before my practice, and some gatorade. Everyone is diff. If you have been taking ur practice exams with the energy drinks and its working for u...then "I" would go for it. I havent taken the test yet so i dont kno how helpful my opnion would be, however, best of luck👍👍

The thing is that I noticed that I do have a lower score on practice tests when I'm taking it when not fully awake, and I get like brain farts and zone out. I never have taken energy drinks before tests, so I was just wondering about it just in case on testing day I couldn't sleep as well the night before.

That includes the time they need to photograph you, fingerprint you, and prepare your station. Also, at the end of the exam, you are required to fill out a computer-based survey, which I believe takes ~10 minutes.
If you've never had energy drinks, avoid them before your test, because you simply don't know how your body will react. For example, I'm not a big fan of coffee, energy drinks, caffeine pills, or anything of that nature. The first time I had a sip of an energy drink my hands were shaking for a good half 'n hour, and you don't want that to happen during the DAT.
Wake up early, eat a light breakfast, and take a bottle of water and some chocolate with you to the center.
Also, take some pain killers, in case headache decides to kick in halfway through the exam.

Good Luck👍

I'd avoid the energy drinks especially if you haven't been used to taking them. Also, take my advice which i learned through college. I took an 8am chem midterm and drank a red bull right before. I got a bad stomach ache out of no where. Maybe because it was early or I didnt get enough to eat. For the DAT, I might go with an energy bar an hour or so before the test and not too much liquids bc of the fear of having to use the restroom.

But everyone is different. Good luck on your test. Mine is tomorrow as well (14th).

Thanks. Mine is the day after yours :scared:. After looking through some threads about scores from other people today, wow...i'm speechless especially the guy who go like 26 and 27 TS and AA(something like that) and a 30 on the PAT
