There are only 7 days in the week and no one would come in on Sunday 🙂 I think UTH is only interviewing Fridays and Wednesdays. That calendar shows it all.

You can always reschedule if you had another interview. But UTH is hard to reschedule FYI.

Having an interview already on the day they assign is usually a good scapegoat. Also, I'd think it's much easier to reschedule if you are early and there are plenty of interview sessions after you. Once you get to Sept-Oct, they will growl at you!

For UTH it is still harder. I was out of the country for school. Other people I knew had a hard time rescheduling last year when they had UTMB and UTH the same day. They'll give you their very last date which is the reschedule date (last year was Jan 5). Then if you have a good reason and ask nicely, they'll email you when there are openings in other interview days, but you have to respond quickly because first come first serve. It should be easy but it isn't and it is quite stressful because you could possibly end up with a very late date. (I went from Aug 2nd to Jan 5 to Aug 25th. Thank God 🙂)

I don't know if this has already been asked/answered, but...

Does anyone know what system the Texas schools go under for their Interviews (blind, semi-blind etc.)?

I have interviewed at TCOM and I know they use a semi-blind system, where they get your personal statement and secondary essays etc, but no GPA or MCAT scores.

Any others?

UTSA is semi-blind. All they get is your essays.
UTSW is open file.
UTMB I hear is open file.

From my experience last year: 1 interviewer at UTSW is blind to GPA/MCAT, your other one is not.
 
hey everyone! for those interviewing at A&M on 8/9, where do you'll plan on staying?
and also, i haven't received their packet via postal mail yet. i called the office and they said they'll get the lady to call me back. but my interview is in 4 days. any ideas?

I'm staying at the LaQuinta. There was a list of hotels in the packet, but no discount code or anything. I think the LaQuinta was $65, so not too bad.

If you don't get your packet in the mail in the next two days, PM me and I'll tell you the gist of what's in it - where to go, where to park, etc.

What kind of patient care background/experience do you have? I have been considering applying for a Nursing Assistant position at MDA but haven't gone through with it yet. I just got my EMT-B this spring but I didn't know if they would take that or if I would be requried to be a CNA.

I go to school at A&M so I know the city very well. If you have any problems feel free to PM me. Also, maybe it would be a good idea to meet and greet? That way we will know some people on the 9th. If you want my cell number just PM me in case you get lost or something.

Also, I was thinking we could maybe carpool to Temple and back? My car gets great mileage (civic), so if some people could chip in a few bucks I wouldn't mind.

Crunchymilk, I'd be up for that. Who else would like to get together the night before? I don't know anyone in CS anymore, so I'd love to meet you guys. 😀 Carpooling is a great idea, but I'll be staying in Austin until my UTHSCSA interview on the 13th.

I got like 4 emails from Baylor the other day, soon after I submitted my secondary, and I was like "Oh sweet, invite already!"

But then it was like email 1:we received your AMCAS, email 2: We received your secondary, email 3: we received your payment etc




And I was sad 🙁

Seems like several of us are going to be at A&M on 8/30. We ought to all try and meet at the Chicken.
 
heck I'm thinking about driving to CS and getting a room at LaQuinta just to hang out with the cool kids.

I should pull one of those "Hey I'm going to be in the area, want to interview me?" things.

Yeah, but it'll just end up being you, me, and a few others with no interviews...
Then we'll all have to put on our suits, make up excuses why we can't carpool, and go drive in circles for 6 hours. Then, when we meet for dinner, we'll all be really awkward about making up stories.

"Yeah, I dunno I don't really feel like this school is for me."
"That ripped me apart on my interview, I definitely didn't get in!!"
"I know what you mean, did you get that crazy lady too?!?"

I like the chicken, but it's not that great

I have heard they serve more beer/square foot than any other bar in the US though.

To receive interviews, does the order in which schools consider you change if you submit your secondaries more than a couple of days after the primary app processing date? How long did each secondary take most of you?
 
This is me *crossing my fingers* that I get a UTMB invite tomorrow...bah, who am I kidding!? 🙄
 
I'm wondering when UTH and UTSW will start handing out invites if they supposedly start Aug 24th and 25th respectively. 🙁

When should i expect TMDSAS to complete my processing and send it to schools. They recieved my certification Page/etc on July 19th (study abroad until july 10th, which counted as a spring course 🙁). Right now i can view half of my applicant profile (everthing except for the GPA information). I just called tmdsas and they said that im not even supposed to see what i see on the applicant profile page until they send me the email that they are done with my application.

Also do you know how they calculate science and non-science GPA? Do they use the BCPM method as well, or do they also include the Other-Science classes from the course work for the science GPA? and if they do, would i be able to change it on the course work page now?

I still haven't finished my Texas A&M Secondary (at first because it was so damn long) and I was processed in June. At this point I am just considering not going there, which is why I am holding it.

i think you should do it. you wont loose anything. and plus the way this process is so random, i say apply at least at all your in state schools.

i had a friend who was about to not do the utsw secondary, and then just did it for the hell of it on the last day it was due. she is in their class of 2011 and that was her only interview.
 
ok so i saw where they updated where i am working now and they just added it to my chronology.
but they wrote it in such a crappy way. no caps and not in sentences lol.😎
oh well.
 
woohoo, TMDSAS now lists my LORs as received, hopefully now that I'm "complete" I can get some interviews.

no LMFU when they added my LORs though.. weird.
