After I finished digesting all the problems that the California board had on their list, I am now looking at the list that the Texas has.
It is clear that cold war ended quite a while ago, the Texas medical board still has the cold war mentality. This version was updated on 11/10/2005. However, what they really updated was only the Caribbean medical schools. This is just another case of the state medical board prejudice against Caribbean schools.
Here are a few.
1. While California approved many medical schools in China even included some schools that don't even exist in China, Texas board did not list a single one! And it had quite a few Indian schools listed. They are both major Asian countries, why are they being treated differently? China has already sent its first manned rocket, and the Texas medical board still thinks that Chinese medical school graduates are not smart enough to practice medicine in the US? On the other hand, they approved two schools in Hong Kong which is now a part of China. So as you can see, the medical board is contradicting itself.
2. It still has an approved school for "South Vietnam, and another code 93800 for "North Vietnam" which has no approved school. The Vietnam war ended so many years ago!!! And the name of that approved school is "Univ De Saigon", location is "Saigon!" So it means that after the americans left Vietnam, Texas board decided that the communist Vietnam
medical students, physicans are no longer any good.
3. Once again, just like the political biased California, South Korea has a few approved schools when North Korea has none.
4. They have listed two medical schools in Cuba which the board is certainly banned to visit that country. That just showed us that Texas medical board also approved schools that they did not visit just like the California board did.
Clearly, this medical board is full of political prejudice and agenda!
5. Yugoslavia is long gone, this board still has several school listed.
6. It even used an ancient word "Manchuria" to describe China, and "Formosa" to describe taiwan. It just shows that they are simply ignorant.
7. They still have the name of "U.S.S.R" listed!!!
8. They still divide the unified Germany as East and West.
9. They are still using old DO school names.
10. At last, the only thing that they have updated was the Caribbean region. And the only Caribbean school that is on the list is Ross University. St. George University which is clearly better than Ross was not on the list. From what I know, SGU was on their list not so long ago. While they kept all those old names, why did they decide to take down SGU which was approved before? Why are they biased?
So with that kind of ignorance, political and cultural prejudice, can we really trust the schools that they have approved?!
Fellow Texans, just like we Californians, we should all fight against the injustice that those two ignorant medical boards that have put upon us. We can't take it any longer; it is our life that they are trying to ruin.
Let's inform our state and federal officials about this matter, let's get our family members involved. If we can pass all three steps of USMLE, if we can get license at other states, why can't we have the freedom to practice medicine in our own states!
