Hey y'all,

Trying to piece together rough estimate of when I should be expecting interviews for this cycle. I applied at the end of June, sent all secondaries by July, and was complete with my MCAT score the first week of August. Any idea when I should be expecting interviews?

Depends on the strength of your app

^what the man said above me.

I am in the exact same situtation as you. Everything in Early, I got my MCAT in August 1st. First II came 6 days after it, then another mid September, then another mid october. Very spread out. Im certain waves of II will come out soonish though, but not too too much time left. Begin to worry around Mid-november

Do you have strong EC's? leadership? research? Keep doing these things in case you need to reapply or send in updates! good luck my fellow Texan

I agree, from my experience, not many schools interview in January and the December month is abbreviated due to the winter break. Also as mentioned above, continue to improve your application whether it be to have a stronger application in the future or simply to answer the question "what have you done since submitting your application?"

My app is fairly middle of the pack I think. About a 3.5 gpa with a 506 mcat. I thought I’d have a little more luck in Texas this cycle than I have had so far.

There is a persistant myth that Texas IS applicants have better chances than the overall AMCAS pool.
Texas schools 1529 IS matriculants for 4248 IS applicants = 36% matriculation rate
AMCAS 21338 matriculant for 51680 applicants = 41% matriculatiom rate

But Texas schools do strongly prefer Texas residents, yes?

Some schools wrap up in December, some January, and Baylor has one Feb date.

Unfortunately, your numbers are a bit below average for admitted Texans. If you've got strong ECs and a compelling backstory with demonstrated service to under-resourced communities you might get lucky. Do you?

If not, there's still time to apply to more DO schools. Or, work on your application some more and focus on next year.

Is it still okay to apply DO or would I be too late in the game for that?

You can add an AMCAS app to TCU/UNTHSC if you have taken a physiology class and a genetics class during your undergrad. This new school doesn't have many pre-reqs but these are 2 of their very specific ones. AMCAS app for this school will be open in early November.
2018-2019 TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine

Lmao. Nvm XD I thought it was on the same timeline as other DOs. Sry op

Nope, TCOM follows every single rule put out by TMDSAS including traffic, deposits, and deadlines ;p

Also, for the record, TCOM’s average stats this year are also above OP’s. I believe the only school in Texas where OP is above mean/median is UTRGV (not including UIW).
