I'm applying this cycle for all the Texas pharmacy schools and would just like to gather some knowledge from people who have gone through this. I just have a few questions and I'm hoping I can get them answered by you all:xf:.

  • When should I e-submit my PharmCAS by? (Good date deadline)
  • What did you get a response?
  • When do people usually interview, and how long does it take for their final response?
  • I know for TSU they are infamous for responding late.. but how late
  • I'm really interested in going to UH, was wondering if people could tell me their stats and what not
I also am very interested in entering the field of pharmaceuticals sales as well though, I majored in Microbiology and minored in Business and am confident I can excel in that industry if pharmacy school does not present the opportunity, that being said has anyone been in this position where they want to go to pharmacy school but also need to make future plans/back up plans due to graduation. I don't want to wait an extra year to apply again, so just wondering if people have any advice.

Lastly here are my stats, wondering if you guys think I have a chance. 😍

  • University of Texas
  • ~3.0 GPA
  • BS: Microbiology; Minor Business
  • Pharmacy Experience: Retail, Hospital, Compounding
  • Other Work Experience: Teaching Assistant for Biology, Intern as a Sales/Marketing position
  • Volunteer Hours: Over 100+, really involved in clubs on campus which require hours
  • Extra Circular: Active member in numerous organizations and clubs. Including a fraternity and sport's club (Strongest point of me)

I would think the best way to find out is to talk to the admissions at the school you want to apply to. Unless someone worked at the admissions of a pharmacy school, no one on here can really tell you what kind of chances you have with your accolades.

That being said, seems like your GPA is on the low side of spectrum for most of Texas schools. The schools that I've talked to, Texas Tech, UT, UofH, A&M, have all said that the first thing they look at are GPA and PCAT score. I had a low pre-req GPA initially when I called the first time to ask about my situation and all them responded with "you gotta raise your GPA". So I took a year off from work to re-take pre-reqs to raise my pre-pharm GPA from 3.11 to 3.68 with 69 on PCAT. I called back to all the schools to see how they would respond. All were encouraging. One of the advisors from Tech was even telling me to apply to pharmd/MBA duel degree program since I have a masters degree.

So my advise to you would be to talk to people who matter in getting you into pharm school 😀

I'm not a Texas resident. I'm a little worried because I heard Texas schools don't accept too many out of staters:scared:

Just out of curiosity, what is the reason you're trying to apply to Texas schools? what state do you live in?
