Has anyone gotten an official letter yet or know approximately when we will get it??

Accepted. Kind of in shock right now. I'm happy I got in, but really sad because this means I have to break up with my boyfriend.

Amarillo is not big enough. He's a Japanese translator and there's not really a market for that in Amarillo.

Guys, there is an excerpt from my acceptance email that reads this:

Watch for Criminal Background Check (CBC) information which will be sent to you between now and January for your immediate attention. Those who scored below 3.0 in the writing section of the PCAT will receive an additional document. what in the world is that suppose to mean?

Don't forget about your shots! I fell down on Monday night and got a big gash on my knee that needed 3 stitches. Before I got them they asked me about when the last time a got a tetanus shot and it had been a while so I got one w/ the pertussis. It just reminded me that I need to get all that stuff together and to file fafsa . Don't forget!

congrats to everyone that got in! I'm getting nervous now b/c I know 2/1 is up for review :xf:

Ouch! Hope they fixed you up good. I called my doctor's office today and scheduled my first round of vaccines. My mom isn't sure where my MMR, Hep B, Varicella records are, so I'm just going to get them again. I got my meningitis vaccine back in August or September.

😕 can you call tech and see if you got in before Merlin updates? i interviewed Feb. 1 anyone else on that date get a response via email, merlin, physical mail, or phone call?

Romylove, you should be able to contact your Drs office and request a copy of your immunization records for free. then you don't have to spend more money retaking vaccines.

They will not tell you over the phone. Unless you are being from the alt. list. You will get an email with he admissions offer and your merlin will update at the same time. If you do not receive an email, it just means you're being looked at in the next committee meeting good luck!

They will review interviews from 2/1 on 2/19/2013. Thats what it says on the sheet they gave us.

I would have got MMR in California and/or Washington.
My mom doesn't think I ever completed the Hep B series, but if I did, that was somewhere in Missouri.
Pretty sure I never got tdap or varicella either.
I know I haven't had a tb test in about 3 years...

So I'm better off just doing them all.

Is there a Facebook page yet for Class of 2017??! 🙂

Congratulations to everyone that has been accepted and good luck to all of those interviewing and waiting on admission decisions.

Remember to join the group on facebook to connect with your fellow members of Texas Tech School of Pharmacy Class of 2017 once you have been accepted.

Hey Recoverer! Congrats on your acceptance! You earned it, and it's awesome that you got your first choice! I'm so happy for you!

If I'm not mistaken, you also applied to UGA. I just had my interview there. Could you perhaps share with us why you chose TTU so enthusiastically over UGA or over any of the other schools you applied to? I really enjoyed UGA, and I feel like if I got into both schools it would be a tough decision. I know it's really a personal choice, but I guess my question is this, "What is it about Tech that resounded with you so strongly over other schools?"

Anyone else's response to the question above would also be greatly appreciated!

I recently got accepted to both UGA & Tech as well and I'm a bit torn in between the two (I'm in the process of making a pros and cons list lol). Tech's curriculum seems a lot more intense than UGA however it's tuition is a lot cheaper for me since I'm a TX resident. I have no idea on what to do! Both campuses are great, the faculty members and students are extremely welcoming and they make you feel at home.

If I ever come to a decision I'll let you know lol.

hahah I guess maybe because I was never offered an interview at UGA LOL. but yeah texas tech has the strongest clinical program in the state.

gonna be honest. good girl to guy ratio...good town yeah

I'm nervous to see which location I will be placed at. I know they said that they will be mailed to us, so I'm assuming possibly end of this week? Maybe early next week?

If they finished making decision Tuesday and mailed the letters Wednesday, anyone in the metroplex will likely receive their letter Friday or Saturday. Out of state? I'd say Saturday, Monday, or Tuesday. I know it takes 3 days for mail to move to/from DFW to/from Reno.

Yeah, Tech has a great clinical program. It really took me by surprise. I don't know why, but it did. I really like the low cost-of-living. That's a huge plus. I have to admit, I'm a little concerned about the town. Is it really conservative?

This story scares me about moving to the panhandle:

I'm ok just a little sore. I didn't even know that there's a vaccine for chicken pox now. I had chicken pox when I was little so now I need blood work to prove it. The student health center here at TX State said that they could help me get my shots & blood work done.

Advise to those picking btw schools. Go with the cheapest one you can get into. I did my undergrad at a private school & I took out loans to pay for it. I currently owe over 100k & everytime I see that bill it gets me in the gut. My monthly bill is about 1k so do the math on how much ur monthly payment would be when u get out. I could have bought a house that would be worth more by now but instead I got an education. Don't get me wrong I love my school & it's where I met my husband but if I had to do it over again I would have gone to public school instead. Just something to think about. This is the main reason why I'm praying to get into Tech. Good luck everyone.

So I realize that this is probably a bit early to get the ball rolling, but we should start thinking of living arrangements. After perusing the lists supplied by Tech and the students (plus websites) I am liking the 2/2 at Quail Creek.

Pros:
Really close to school.
Split bedrooms. (Privacy)
Rooms almost equal in size. (No fighting over who gets the big room! 13sq.ft. difference.)
Washer/dryer in unit. (No lugging heavy laundry baskets around the complex, no worrying about having quarters.)

Cons:
One bedroom has a walk-in closet, the other has two smaller closets. Could be an issue if both people have a lot of clothes.

If anyone else is interested in maybe splitting a place, I have great credit, 2 years of rental history, and am generally quiet. I will not be bringing any pets with me, but I am open to having a short-haired cat (medium and long haired breeds upset my allergies too much, so if you just can't live without Fluffy, it ain't gonna work out).

I am a non-smoker, and anyone interested should be as well. I have no gender preference for room mates (I used to live with 2 guys). I am unmarried and have no kids, so I would prefer the same.

That's about all I have for now. You can message me here or on Facebook. I'm a member of the group. Cortney.

The town of Amarillo is actually quite a diverse town. I myself, am very very conservative. As a repulican, I can handle the panhandle haha

They said if you are this early in the cycle, you usually 100% get the choices you selected.

Hey guys, just wanted to post about shots, I have all mine done minus the last of the hep B round, and really just wanted to warn people about getting them again if theyve already had them. I had a round of hep B and varicella at a place of employment a little over five years ago, and wasnt sure that I had correctly finished them so I chose to restart all of them. I ended up having a reaction to the varicella both times, and the MMR on the last round. The MMR I think I had last over a decade ago so I was surprised that I reacted. The varicella and MMR reactions werent horrible, I had swelling, itching, and heat at the area. The varicella reaction spread to cover almost the entire back of my upper arm where it was administered.

If you can get ahold of your records, and your vaccinations are within date, I would do so. The trouble of doing that is worth not having to spend/suffer from the vaccines!

Also, the vaccines can be expensive if your insurance does not pay for them, my work insurance paid for all but the MMR, and they put me out $130 all together.

And, remove the bandaid that they put on your arm after being vaccinated soon after. For some reason if you body reacts to the vaccine it is more likely to react to the adhesive on the bandaid as well. They put sensitive skin bandaids on me and I still had the entire shape of the bandaid outlined in red on my arm.

I had my hep B series shots like 10 years ago. I am not getting them again.
