How many of you apply for the early review of Texas Tech?

I applied for early admission. Haven't heard anything yet. Their website says that the first interviews are Jan. 27, so I'm starting to think I didn't get invited. How about you? You heard anything?

I applied there for early admission as well and havent heard anythign yet. A friend of mine applied there last year for early admissions and got an interview mid-Feburary and he was contacted in the beginning of February.

I havent' heard anything from them either. A little nervous ... Don't you just hate it when you have to wait for something????

PharmEm: How was your friend contacted?

He checked his application like everyday and then one day it said he has been accepted for an interview and then I think shortly after he got an email saying the same thing. He got accepted into Tech and although he's enjoying it he says it's really hard b/c they have so many hours but then agian they dont have summer school like other pharm schools. Everytime I call him he's either studying or taking a nap from his studies, hahahahaha.

Yep, that's how it happened for me. I just found out Friday. Checked the website and it allowed me to pick a date. I got Feb 3.

Does anyone know how soon they extend an acceptance after the interview? Does it mean that if you interviewed early, you may hear from them early? Thanks.

i postmarked my app feb 9 and got an invitation for an interview today.

if you applied by feb 9, and if you get into early admissions, your interview will be in jan or feb. and you'll know by march 15 if you got in. if you don't make early admissions or if you don't get accepted in the early admissions round, you're deferred to normal admissions and reviewed again i believe.

Is texas tech a good pharm school?

I got my notice on M.L.K. day (16 Jan.). I had spoken with Linda Goldstein at the SOP and she said invitations would occur up until the end of next week (29th). There are slots for 24 persons per interview date and four dates in Feb. during which they are conducting those interviews. There are various stories about when we'll hear back about acceptance. The webpage says that by Mar 31st all early invitations will be made.

this gives lots and lots of good information about tech.

about the application process, after you submit everything, they look at your previous coursework to see what is the potential that you will be successful in pharm school. They do this with a regression line of your gpa or something.

after you get an interview, your gpa and pcat don't factor in anymore. just your interview which is scored out of 100.

after the interview, they go back to look at if you had retaken any classes before. (your gpa only includes the grade of the last time you took a course) For every F you got, they subtract 10 points out of your interview points. For every D, they substract 5 points.

aaand then they rank you.

Bad news for those attending the Feb. 10 interview at Tech. The twenty-four candidates who interviewed on Feb. 3 were so talented and impressive that we probably stole most of the early admissions seats. Sorry about that. But hey, there's still regular admissions.
