Does anybody have any information on this program? I have heard anecdotal stories of people almost being guaranteed a spot in Texas Tech's Medical School class upon successful completion of the program? (Although it is not written in stone) By successful completion, I mean receiving mostly A's and B's in the program's courses. I was wondering if a current student or those who might be applying can share some more information about the program? I searched old threads and could not find any information on the program. Thanks in advance.

Subscribed.

I'm curious since I'm a Texas resident and am only interested in allopathic schools, so for anything Texas that leaves out TCOM.

Initially I was a bit turned off from TTU b/c the program is 2 years (if my memory serves right).

I'm looking for information on the program too. Not alot of information on the web from past experiences though. :/

The program director told me students take the first 3 blocks of medical school classes, have to complete a project in support of the School of Medicine teaching curriculum, and serve as teaching assistants during the second year. She gave me a stat of 71% of students going to TTU's medical school, so it's a strong link. Haven't heard from anyone who actually completed the program, though. That's probably because they only accept ~5 students

Only 5 people? You aren't serious are you?

Yeah it's a super small program, which is why we haven't had any graduates on here. You should call Terri Lloyd who's the program director. I think app deadline is next month btw.

Well I'll call her soon. I didn't plan on applying until my senior year. I'm a junior now and transferred to Tech this past Fall. I'm majoring in Microbiology with a Chemistry minor. Haven't taken the GRE or MCAT yet but I plan on doing that this summer hopefully. At my previous University I had a bad gpa 2.57 when I left. Since I've been here at Tech I've gotten a 3.0 last semester and it looks like I'll have over a 3.5 gpa this semester. What do you think my chances are for getting into the program if I continue with my upward trend?

I also have some pretty good extracurricular imo. Do those amount for anything?

I'm not really sure, I don't know much about the program other than those specifics I mentioned. They list the class avgs of 3.35 gpa and 26 MCAT on their website http://www.ttuhsc.edu/som/cbb/MS_PreMedSci.aspx.
