Well SDN is up and running again, and just in time for Texas to post where they matched...

San Antonio for me... and I am so excited.

other apps still open, but I think this is where I will wind up going.

Anyone else out there match into UTSA? or any other Texas school for that matter??

Hell yea... let the posting begin...

UT San Antonio here, too!
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Out of all the TX schools i interviewed at (6), i couldnt feel more at home as I did in SA. I'm so, so thrilled. Anyone else feel like 4000 pounds have been lifted off your chest? Can't wait to meet you, Neil. Throw me your IM name/an email if you want.

To everyone: thanks so much for the comments and advice you've given me over the last year. whatever happens to you, whether good or bad, remember that it's happening for a reason (at least, that's what i believe). good luck, everyone.

Hey y'all.....how many got into UT-San Antonio again? haha.... I GOT IN TOO!!! WOOHOO! It was my number two choice, so I'm guessing the top one is still open, but I'm still so excited with UTSA. Is it time to get scared yet?

Feel free to get in touch with me if y'oud like [email protected]

Kevin 😎

Congrats to everyone; the wait is finally over!

I matched with UT-SW and i'm still open at UT-H-I guess i'm gonna be a longhorn after all 😉

Diane... 4000 pounds off my back is an understatement!!

Diane and Kevin... I look forward to meeting both of you.

I still have SW open I guess... but I was dumb and ranked SW number one because of its reputation. I agree Diane, I felt the most home at UTSA too... just such a kick back atmosphere. Perfect!!

Congrats to everyone else as well...

Yeah, congrats to everyone on getting through all of this! They made us all wait for quite awhile. You gotta love the Texas system, though...they keep it simple and it's pretty flawless if you ask me.

As for matching, it is UT-Southwestern for me, too. However, I will withdraw pretty soon, and someone else can have my spot (hopefully, an SDNer).

Hey Peter,

Let me have your spot okay? I'm on the waitlist at SW. 🙂

Why don't you want UTSW? 😱

I matched with Tech & I've been waitlisted at UTSW which is where I want to go sooooooo badly. Give me your spot! please please please!!

ditto for me

I guess Kerm can have my spot, and SoutherGirlie can have bluedeviled's. 2 withdrawals = 2 acceptances. Beautiful. On a more serious note, UT-Southwestern has major waitlist movement...something like over half their class is taken off the waitlist. Let the Baylor exodus begin 😀 . Best of luck to you wherever you may end up!

Yay SW! It was so nice to match with my first choice! I can't believe it. I checked it originally Friday night when it first went up, and then by Sunday night I started doubting that I got in and thought that maybe I imagined it all or something, so I had to log on to the match thingy again to just prove to myself that I really did get in.

I matched at Tech, but I'd love to get in to UTSW from the waitlist.

Does anyone know if they tell you where you are on the waitlist or do they leave you hanging?

Does anyone know how much movement there is off the UT-Houston waitlist? 😕

I just got off the phone with the admissions office there - it's my first choice. This is what I they told me:

- They haven't yet rejected/waitlisted anyone (that they would say).
- They will be preparing a ranked waitlist by the end of the month.

This not knowing/waiting game stinks, not an original comment for sure. 🙁

Anyone else rank Houston #1??

Rothgar

I ranked Houston #1, but ended up getting into Southwestern, my 2nd choice...

I'm happy with the results, however.

i'm on the waitlist at TCOM; i called them this morning

Unless I get the nod from Baylor, I will be attending UT Houston next year, my first choice. Where are all the other Houston people?

Everyone else, don't forget to add your acceptances to the thread below so we can see an actual list of where people are going!

Official Acceptances for 2003

Yay Houston! It was my first choice and I am so excited. Have any Houston people received a packet in the mail yet? My roommate got into UTSW and she got a packet on Saturday. Anyway, what a relief!

I'm rounding up some poeple in the Houston area that just recently matched at any of the schools and want to celebrate... thought it would be cool to just go out and meet some people that just went through the same s#$! as me... I posted above... but I just wanted to say it again... San Antonio for me, send me an email!!

so yea, if anyone is interested in let me know, and I'll give you the 411.

:wow: :wow: :wow:

Hi everyone!
CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!
To my fellow UTSA peeps let me know if you guys are going to get together! I can't wait to meet u!

Hey Congrats everyone!!!

I matched to my #1 choice UT Houston, but I've already pretty much decided that I would take my Baylor acceptance. It was a difficult choice because I really liked both schools, but the curriculum swung me to Baylor. So here's another seat up for grabs for someone once I withdraw.

For the people who were matched, what kind of stats did you have?

WAY TO GO EVERYONE!!!

So, am I the only one out there that ranked Tech #1?? That was my first choice and I GOT IT!!! I fell in love with tech as soon as I walked in. The whole experience there was great. I am beyond excited!

Anyone else headed to Lubbock or am I the only one in the new class?! lol I would love to catch up with some other people to celebrate either here in SA or when I finally get moved to Lubbock. Email me if anyone is planning a get-together, I'll be there.

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!!!

Yeah, got the USPS post card too.

Hi everyone, congrats on your matches! I matched to UTMB, any others going to Galveston?
Alrighty I have 2 questions, Galveston's packet only had a reply deadline by August for a spot....but I heard that you had to notify schools within 2 weeks to reserve a spot? Anyone know if UTMB requires that?
Also, if I get a spot at UTSA (my 2nd choice) I'll have to decide tween the two. Besides SA being a cooler city, anyone have insight from an academic standpoint about the two? I had a really tough time ranking UTMB and UTSA.

Baki...
my personal ranking is, 2-6 more based on curriculum:
1) SW
--------------
2) SA
3) Houston
4) UTMB
5) Tech
6) AM

The thing most people I geuss would disgaree with is putting SA before Houston. I only did that because of the curriculum. San Antonio does not have a traditional curriculum; they have what they called an integrated curriculum for some subjects where they teach you about one particular area of the body and at the same time teach you the relative information of other subject for that area of the body. Does that makes any sense? so basically they incorporate everything you need to know about a particular area of the body at one time rather than learning all the subjects at different times and having to integrate it yourself for the boards. I may be way off in my explanation, but that is the basic idea. They have been successful with this curriculum and the students that I've talked to say it is great.

Now, UTMB has a lot of problem based learning, the most out of the Texas schools I think, and they are still experimenting with that curriculum. Consequently, percentage wise, they have had below average board scores on the national level. For some, problem based works better, some prefer traditional, and SA offers a somewhat integrated curriculum.

I don't know which one I prefer seeing that I haven't experienced any of them. But I feel like integrated is a good idea, the students liek it, and it seems like a good fit for me. So I ranked SA before Houston and UTMB.

Hope this helps... I matched into SA, so I am glad i thought the curriculum through before I ranked.

Congrats to everybody who matched into Texas schools. I am currently a third year at UTHSCSA and am still very happy with my choice. The one thing I will say about all the schools in Texas is that you really can't go wrong with any of the schools. If any one has any questions about SA feel free to email me or just post them on this board.

Congratulations on matching at a TX school. Yes, the TX schools are a good deal: an excellent education at half the price you'd get at a private school.

I am a first year at Tech, and available to answer any med school-related questions you folks may have, especially those going to Tech.

Again, congrats.
