Baki...
my personal ranking is, 2-6 more based on curriculum:
1) SW
--------------
2) SA
3) Houston
4) UTMB
5) Tech
6) AM
The thing most people I geuss would disgaree with is putting SA before Houston. I only did that because of the curriculum. San Antonio does not have a traditional curriculum; they have what they called an integrated curriculum for some subjects where they teach you about one particular area of the body and at the same time teach you the relative information of other subject for that area of the body. Does that makes any sense? so basically they incorporate everything you need to know about a particular area of the body at one time rather than learning all the subjects at different times and having to integrate it yourself for the boards. I may be way off in my explanation, but that is the basic idea. They have been successful with this curriculum and the students that I've talked to say it is great.
Now, UTMB has a lot of problem based learning, the most out of the Texas schools I think, and they are still experimenting with that curriculum. Consequently, percentage wise, they have had below average board scores on the national level. For some, problem based works better, some prefer traditional, and SA offers a somewhat integrated curriculum.
I don't know which one I prefer seeing that I haven't experienced any of them. But I feel like integrated is a good idea, the students liek it, and it seems like a good fit for me. So I ranked SA before Houston and UTMB.
Hope this helps... I matched into SA, so I am glad i thought the curriculum through before I ranked.
