Hi all. I am looking to relocate to the DFW area in the summer and am job searching. My job search has been met with a bunch of job posts from companies like Geode Health, Serenity Mental Health Centers. Anyone has experience with any of them?

Call the private practices or whoever you want to work for and inquire about a job. Geode, Serenity, etc have job openings everywhere for a reason. They aren’t desirable positions.

Come on, my friend. Of all the times to join the VA, this is not that time haha

There's risks with taking any job, but, so far, no clinical position cuts, buy outs, early retirement etc at the VA and we are actively hiring. Texas is a major growth state due to the number of veterans, particularly compared to the Northeast. Obviously this all could change, but it could change for a lot of salaried positions funded by Medicaid and Medicare too.

Hey TexasPhysician, if I recall you were/are part of the FIRE movement, correct? How is it going for you? I’m in my early 40s and would love to be able to retire from psychiatry/medicine in the next 10 years but I doubt I’ll be able to.

Feel free to make your own thread if you want further discussion. I am late 30's and will be easily able to fat FIRE in a decade (but have the cheat code of an MD spouse). Happy to answer any questions in a seperate thread.
