What are the names of the more frequently used biochemistry text books in medical school? Do most schools use additional books in genetics and cellular biology?

At NYCOM we use "Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry" by Nelson & Cox, 3rd Edition.

keep your UG books. I found that my good 'ol Stryer's worked as good as a new $85. book. if you have cell and molecular bio by albers, et al, that's a good book, too.

be very careful not to buy too much "in preparation" for school. wait and ask an MS-II if you need a textbook and if they ended up using one.
