As much as I love Sapira's, I don't think it is an appropriate introductory text for medical students-it is far too in depth/advanced. Start with a good basic text (like Bates) which has plentiful illustrations, master it, then move on to Sapira's. It is a true masterpiece of physical diagnosis. It doesn't read like a text but rather like a bedside discussion with a Yoda-like diagnostician. Ever heard of Vitum's or Ewart's or d'Espine's sign? Curvheilhier-Baumgartern murmur? It's all in there...
