I only say this half-seriously, but has anyone found a table lamp / light bulb that does not create glare on the page of 'the average science textbook.' I have experimented with banker lamps, every concoction at IKEA, overhead lighting - nothing compares to sunlight. In the process of moving my amigo smashed my current IKEA (glass-like) shade, and the occasion for a new form of desk illumination has arisen.

I know what you mean. The type that's plasticy (which gives it the glare) paper - only exception I've seen to it is the Princeton Review books (which is why I guess they're cheaper).

My own lamplight is particularly bad, what I find makes it better is if you bounce the light off a wall (not necessary) and you read the page at a direct angle (what I mean is, if you're reading at an angle, like most of us do, the light bounces off the light source into your eyes, giving you that glare. you wanna minimize that glare by moving your book so its angle doesn't shine the glare on your eyes)... it helps a lot.

/completely serious
