i was wondering if it is appropriate or a good idea to thank the people who interviewed you, especially if it was the dean of the school who made the final decision to your acceptance?

I think it is more appropriate to send thank you notes after interviewing. Now that youve waited until after youve been accepted, its a bit late. Send in a nice fat check for the deposit and that will be thanks enough.

I sent "thank you" notes to all my interviewers. They choose to take time out of their days to interview. Therefore it's a nice gesture to thank them for their time and interest in you.
In your case you could still send a note thanking them for interviewing and accepting you. You could add something about how you look forward to working with them in the future.

Yeah, but send it in a over-sized box, you know, like refrigerator size...this will entice them to actually open it! How many thank-you sized envelopes do you think they receive each day? I don't think it gives you an edge at all.
