What do you guys think is better as a way of thanking the recommendation writers? I didn't send any cards or anything but I did go down to their offices to thank them personally. Should I still send a card or was that enough?
I posed the same questions to a colleague of mine today and she recommended at least a thank you card, but I think I will probably through in a gift card too since every recommendation was a Strongly Recommend 😀
sending a gift card would be kind of like paying off the professors.. dont ya think??? but i would just suffice for the thank you verbally atleast or at the very MOST a SMALL thank you card.
Thanks, your right! I spoke to a few more people and they said the same thing, so this weekend I will just pick up some thank you cards for my recommenders. 🙂
I just sent a thank you e-mail to my professors. But I gave my pharmacists at work, with whom I've worked for years, actual hand-written cards and baked them cookies. They loved it!
I haven't given anything to my evaluators yet because I'm not done with them yet. Last year, I gave them each a thank you card and a Seattle Chocolate truffle box that I picked up while I was visiting Seattle one weekend. This year, I'm planning on giving them a thank you card as usual, plus a gift that I can find (hopefully I can find something while I make interview trips...that is, if I get invited to one).
I verbally thanked each of my references in person. If I get accepted to a pharm program this year, I was thinking of giving them a small gift, maybe a restaurant gift card or box of desserts.
i wrote cards and bought mugs for all of them, and gave a gift card to a professor, but he said he couldn't take it or anything of monetary value cuz of school policy. =x oops! but i think it was ok in the end, cuz i was no longer a student at that school...
i really dont know the general etiquette, i just wanted to do something to thank them. so i think cards or e-mails would have sufficed too!
I gave chocolates and a thank you card...I didn't think it was wrong because it had no influence on my writers because my letters were already written and sent out to the school...so even if my profs wrote me horrible letters they couldn't do anything about it (as if my tiny gift could actually sway them lol) But a thank you card is more than enough!!!
