MD/PhD interviews can be quite unusual in the sense that you may interview with 10 or so faculty. Is it wise to send very short thank you emails to all the interviewers?

Yes, it is just a matter of common courtesy to do so. Also, it's probably a good idea to send a more detailed note to the program director (possibly by snail mail) particularly if you are strongly considering them.

In addition, I would send a better note to anyone that you are considering working with for a rotation. To be honest however, I have not sent one to everyone. If the faculty member is not on the adcom, and did not bother to read any part of my application...quid pro quo.

Thanks for the replies.

Well, I like using emails, and like Gfunk6, I usually send e-mails that are a little bit longer to the program directors and co-directors.

I started out sending handwritten thank-you notes to every person I came in contact with: the director, the administrative staff, and every interviewer and faculty member I met with.... but after several interviews grouped together right around the holidays, I just gave up. I e-mail directors or interviewers who I particularly clicked with or may want to work with, and that's that. I feel a little guilty, but it just didn't seem worth it to write dozens of thank you notes at a time. After my next interview, I plan to just e-mail a quick thank-you as soon as I get home.

Everyone here is sooo good at this stuff. I hope we can be classmates. All you people are cool.
