My apologies if this is mentioned in another thread, I wasn't able to find it in the applicant sticky. I have my first interview this week and am wondering how to approach sending my interviewers thank you notes. Do you ask at the end of the interview how to contact them? Do schools provide you specific instructions on how to do this?

You can contact them through the admissions office (if they allow them).

In my experience at least, there are 3 ways that this could happen:

1. If the interview is an MMI, then I have had to email the admissions office a letter and they added it to my file.
2. Some schools give you a sheet of paper with your interviewer's contact info
3. If no info is given, I have always asked for my interviewer's email address at the end of the interview.

Just my experience this cycle. I also forgot to do any of these at one of my interviews (i.e. never sent a thank you letter) and still got in so if you forget for some reason then it is definitely not the end of the world!

Some interviewers will hand you their business cards at the end of your interview.

Some admissions offices will provide your interviewers' email addresses on your itinerary for he day.

Some admission offices don't want you to send thank you letters, or if they do, they want you to route it through them.

In other words - totally dependent upon which school you're interviewing at.

teaching moment: If you want to do this because your mom raised you to be polite, that's fine.

IF you're doing it because you buy into the pre-med delusion that this will somehow improve your chances, don't bother. Your interviewers make the decision within 30 mins of finishing your interview.

I'm a southern gal through and through, what can I say 🙂 I write thank you notes for everything.
