Thank you letters

I've been debating sending thank you letters. I'd appreciate all your thoughts.

I have been hand writing some letters when I think it's appropriate. However, I have at least emailed every interviewer so far. Approximately 50-75% of them respond to the email with well wishes and such. I'm also from the South and write thank you notes for everything. I'm sure it isn't necessary.
