I've written a few but I'm not entirely sure if they were good or what one is supposed to put in them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Obvious thanking them for their time and support. I would personally try to add something that makes you stand out and makes them remember you. For example: "I really enjoyed our conversation about _______".

It doesn't have to be long. I would also include ~2 sentences about who you want to to go there. For example: "I am looking forwards to hearing back from the school of ______ as this is one of my top choices."

Hope that gives you a start.

thanx ye it does

also i was wondering if they have to be handwritten and mailed in or if e0mail is fine?

and one more question i interviewed at a school about a week ago but kinda been forgetting/not having time (cuz of finals and other stuff) to thank that interviewer..is it too late now?

They're courteous and a nice thing to do.... but most of the time they will have absolutely no bearing at all on your acceptance, rejection, waitlist, etc. I personally chose not to write them, mainly because I couldn't think of something to say that I didn't think sounded forced and generic...even if it was specific "I really liked talking about [insert interview specific conversation topic here]." Also, personally, having worked in an admissions office during my undergrad years, we usually viewed thank you letters as more of a "accept me! accept me!" plea than something sincere. I'd say...send them with the mindset that you sincerely want to thank your interviewers for their time, rather than as a formality to gain admission.

ye the itnerview that was a week back i really liked the guy and i think we had a very interesting convo

but its been a week...is that too late?

Not too late at all! Maybe a month is too late.

I think thank you notes are great for schools that you are truly interested in. I agree with the other poster that don't force it, it should be natural. If you had a bad interview then I wouldn't sen anything.

When I interview people for the ED program, afterward, I generally know who I want or not want. If I receive one from people I already was going to accept, I view it as more evidence for their maturity and commitment and enthusiasm. For people I didn't plan to accept, the thank you doesn't really help. It is really useful for those I can't make up my mind about, sometimes that note can give them a benefit of a doubt.

thanks for your help!

last question tho...is e-mail ok??

i had an interviewer hand me his card and say email me if you need anything etc.

I still sent him a hand written note. I think they're more formal.

I forgot to write a note to thank folks from one school, but i was still accepted. I don't think they are the make or break, but if you made a good impression, you can keep it up with a nice note.

They absolutely don't make or break... I for one usually have the evaluation written before the applicant even leaves the campus.

One week after the interview is not to late to send one.... I'd give you 2 weeks.

E-mail is fine. Handwritten is nice. Machine printed and mailed in an envelope from the company where you are working during a gap year: tacky.

It used to be about 50/50, now I'd say about 20% send thank yous and it is about 50/50 between email and handwritten snail mail.

I did not do one I hate to write them, and my favorite school in the world said we do not need to GO UCF GO UCF.... I got accepted to all 3 interviews and did not do it. I think it is a waste of time...

I've written them for every other school except for the one I most recently interviewed and was accepted at. It's been about 3 weeks now, is it too late to write one? Just kinda wanted to say thanks, nothing more, nothing less..

What do you guys think of combining your thank you note with your letter of intent?

I just thank them for the opportunity and casually comment on something nice from our discussion that sticks out in my mind. If the business card they hand you has an e-mail address on it, and your school communicates with you entirely by e-mail, there's no reason why an e-mailed thank you note should be inappropriate. I recently sent a TY note via e-mail to an interviewer from a school that even put their entire interview welcome packet in electronic format so as not to waste paper! If it's truly a green campus, they shouldn't mind at all.
