Thank You Notes

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yes, send them. Although it may not help, it can't hurt.😀 :luck:

I was terrible and didn't send any. It's a nice gesture and it definitely can't hurt. My mother would kill me if she knew I was so rude ("Is THIS the way I raised you!?!"). I still got accepted to six schools, though!

As Ben Stiller would say in Starsky and Hutch, "Do it!!!" Hmm...what's a couple of cards and $.39 cent postage stamps going to be compared to ~$200k in debt you'll be after medical school. Adding a couple of dollars isn't really going to make much a difference, in that sense.

On the other hand, if it cheers up the committee, it might save you the thousands you might be spending if you have to do the whole app. process again if you don't get accepted.

I say only send them to the school you get accepted at, and then I would stop in and personally thank them once you start school. At least that's what I was told by most current students. It means the mosy anyway....but do what works for you. 👍

From whatever i've heard its a good idea to send them. I sent it to both the places i interviewed at. (they were both thank u emails and i got accepted to both those schools, prolly not on that basis tho). In addition the sooner you send them, the better it is. Although i'm not sure if somebody actually looks at them or not, but from what i've gathered by talking to adcoms at some schools, they keep track of all correspondence u have with them and if nothing else it shows you are still interested in the school.
And as somebody else said earlier, it really doesn't hurt to send it.

I guess it's the right thing to do. I wonder if they send thank you notes to us if we get rejected. It's difficult for some people to make an interview or even get up to that point. I'll consider it to be the last and final step of a long journey to med school.
