I am only an applicant but I would highly doubt you need a gap year. Your clinical volunteering sounds like it will be in a good spot by the time you apply, shadowing is not that low, only thing that is perhaps weak is non-clinical volunteering but even that isn't prohibitively low. As long as your essays and letters are on point would be kinda stunned if you weren't accepted at a very prestigious medical school. Don't think many adcoms will be able to resist the ultra high-stat, outstanding research, prestigious undergrad, D1 athlete package.

Thank you, that's exactly what I'm concerned about.Your stats are fantastic, as is your research. But your low volunteering and shadowing is quite concerning. I'll let the experts weigh in on this.

Thank you! Definitely working on getting the clinical hours in (not too hard because I enjoy them). Best of luck this cycle!I am only an applicant but I would highly doubt you need a gap year. Thank you! Did you suggest primarily Northeast schools for the regional ties and if so, how critical are those to success? (I wanted to apply to Cali schools because I eventually want to live out west). You are fine to apply next June and I suggest these schools:

UMass, Tufts and Boston University all have instate preferences to varying degrees. If you want to live in the West Coast you could apply to Stanford, UCSF, UCLA, Kaiser and USC Keck.Thank you! You'll have plenty of time to get the hours to where they should be. Best of luck, and congratulations on such a high MCAT score!
