Last year I went to Wal-Mart and got a pack of thank you cards that were blank inside and I wrote a short paragraph thanking my interviewers, enjoyed our conversation about x and y, etc.
Also remember to ask each interviewer for their business card or contact info so that you know where to send the thank you note.

nope. nothing at all. it may be read and trashed. more than likely just read by the secretary and trashed. dont waste your time/money
I would definitely say that it cannot hurt. It is not super advantageous but it might help just a little by reinforcing their image of you as a gentleman. These interviewers are going to be the people who vouch for you, and they interview a lot of people. Plus, a thank you note might provide a chance for you to clarify on things, show that you actually listened, and add additional thoughts that you may have forgotten.

Hmm...I'm thinking a super solid thanks, then goodbye with handshake is sufficient for an interview. If you do that + write a letter...its like restating the same thing...and in a way looks ...bad? I dunno...I'm new to this to. But I feel like a super solid sincere goodbye is the best way to go.
you are completely wrong.....this is looked upon as considerate and professional...not a kiss up.....if you dont send your interviewers a thank you...kiss that school goodbye....as well as all of your money, time and effort

can anyone who's been through the process or is already a dental student shed light on what we're supposed to do? to me it seems like writing a thank you card is unnecesary and a blatant way of sucking up, but i really have no experience concerning these matters and could be completely wrong
It's really a personal choice that won't make a difference either way. Just like ppl in this forum interpret the gesture differently, the same can be said about the adcom. If you want to send it because that's how you roll, great. If you just wanna send it because you want them to remember you, save yourself a couple of bucks cause it wont make a difference.
everyone sends thank you notes. be different. send flowers for the ladies, maybe cigars for the men. 😉

Okay guys/gals, let's get it straight, a thank you note is optional, preferable, but optional, just like a daily shower. If you feel you don't need it, don't. It's a nice gesture to leave a better impression on your interviewers. Let's face it, they are taking time out of their day to stare at your ugly mug for 30 minutes straight. It's just 5 sentences.
And no, it is not kissing up (unless you start commenting on how perfect their glabella is). Kissing up would be sending them chocolate or flowers or starbucks cards or promising to do anything for them 😉. Thank you notes are professional and pretty standard, used anytime you have an interview of this caliber.
