Hey all,

Who is everyone sending thank-yous to, if at all? Program directors only, all interviewers, etc.? Are you doing hand-written cards or typed-out form letters?

I've heard that some people don't send them at all, that such cards tend to look "pushy." Did anyone else feel this way?

Thanks.

I've been sending out thank you's (I sent them all out over X-Mas break, en masse, generally two paragraphs typed, first paragraph the same for all, second paragraph individualized to the program) to the program directors. I didn't want to, but some of my fellow interviewees were shocked that I hadn't sent any, and many of the PDs sent me x-mas cards and the like, so I kinda had no choice 🙄

Damn courtesy....makes more work for me

I have only interviewed at 3 spots so far and handled it differently each time. 1st place I sent no notes. 2nd place I typed notes to the 2 people that intereviewed me. Nothing to PD. Did not have a personal encounter with them. The 3rd school I emailed thank yous to the 2 people that interviewed me. 3rd choice seems to be the best because I immediately heard back from them with positive feedback of their own. The typed snailmail notes got no response. I think in this day and age, people want to correspond by email or just don't take the time.

I've been doing emails too. I try to stick to a few sentences, short & sweet.. that looks silly in a typed letter. There were a few interviews that I left it at a verbal thank you.
