Thanking Interviewers??

I was wondering about sending an email to my interviewers. Would this be frowned upon and unprofessional or the opposite? Any thoughts...

i do...some respond back and others don't... i just thank them for their time, sing praises about the school and let them know i'm very interested... its more like a 6 sentence email....short and to the point

I've only done it twice, and only one of those was for an official interview. i did thank the dean of admissions at one school basically for what was basically a favor, but the other one was because the interview experience was just totally awesome.
