Thanks for working tonight

Thanks to all of you working in the ED tonight so that I could be home with my family on Christmas Eve. I got you covered next year.

Agree. Thanks for having our backs. You guys rock. It's much appreciated.

I got a great schedule this year. I'm technically working Christmas but yesterday I worked from 11 to 8 and was home in time to put the kids to bed for Santa. Today I work from 3 to 1 so I have been home all morning. That was just good luck.

Merry Christmas everybody!

The coolest thing about being a Muslim in the states is that I can work on the holidays so my friends can take off. Do you think that my future partners would appreciate it by letting me take off on my two holidays since I am always volunteering to work the Christian holidays?

My group is very good about this. As the group 'atheist', I volunteer to work all the Christian Sun Myth holidays in exchange for considerations including, but not limited to, Spring Training, Superbowl Sunday and the Stanley Cup Finals.

Which is less likely to happen this year, the rapture or the Stanley Cup?😀

You'll get your holidays whether you work Christmas or not, but your partners will appreciate you working Christmas!

As one of the token Jews in our big group, I always offer to work Christmas Eve and Christmas at one of our sites. I'm already one of the nocturists of the group, and so far no one's complained when I ask off for Yom Kippur (or much else). Trust me, no one wants a doctor who is spending 24hrs fasting!

Stanley cup will get awarded. Mayans = not making the playoffs. Bad coaching, too many dumb penalty mins. No depth on the wings.

Good joke, docB. 🙂

I was very disappointed in the Mayans. I wish they could give the Stanley cup to an AHL or college team on "off years" (which have become all too common).

With such a core of young talent, the Mayan's (ahem, Edmonton's) failure to produce is troublesome.

To those fellow NHL fans who are all grumble-grumble over the season, I say: "Stick it out. This time, they'll fix the CBA so that there's none of this ever again."

Bettman muuust go. Period.

What makes you 'token' ? 🙂

I had this one roommate in medical school who was Jewish; had this great joke where he would refuse anything you'd offer him on the grounds that it wasn't kosher, while consuming it in earnest. Ex: You'd offer him gum. He'd then take it, and cuss you out for offering him the non-kosher gum while smacking it loudly. Funny cat.

I will say I have been lucky and have been able to have xmas and new year's eve off the past 2 years and I want to thank them also.

I am one of the night docs and the other night doc is..I'll just say he doesn't celebrate xmas and leave it at that 🙂. We both seem to get New Year's Eve off.
