For recent graduates or ongoing researchers at the NIH Academy or PostBac Program I know it is important to get a good PI. Are there any standout stellar PIs? Any that I should avoid? I am particularly interested in clinical research related to neurology but any suggestions or information would be helpful. I have been looking at CVs and where PIs are published. But being very well known is different from being a good person to work with and have as a mentor. Some PIs are very present and do hands on work with their students and others are completely absent.
I was just hoping to find out if anyone had a stellar PI or mentor or if there was someone to avoid based on experience since looking at publications or CVs doesn't give information about the individual or how the lab works.
Thanks.
