I tried to PM you, but it wouldn't work. I just wanted to say thanks for telling me about residential life at SUNY Downstate. It was very helpful, although a little scary to find out that the dorms cost about $700-$800!!!! Can you get a single your first year there? I doubt I would commute - it would take me about an hour and a half to get there each yway - without bad traffic Have a great holiday!

Hi E01--I just got back to my computer after an xmas break-- you're welcome for the info. The dorm prices are pretty standard for anywhere in NY. Just the way it is, real estate is pricey!!

Some of my classmates do have single rooms as first years. I imagine it's just a matter of price and availability, but I think it's possible.
